          “ah, don’t worry about it,” she replied, a small dismissive wave of her hand following shortly after. however, grace grinned at the other’s words about the accent. “i know the feeling. i used to speak with the heaviest irish accent for a few years after moving here. but i do like yours, russian has always been comforting. how long have you been here?” 

   she might have told the woman to not worry, though irina had already made a mental note in case the pair were to run into one another again. kindness should always be noted and irina did her best to return those gestures when she could.

     “ it can be a hard habit to break. ” she agreed with a breath of laughter, admittedly comforting had never been a word used to describe the accent, but she supposed that might have something to with the boyfriend she had mentioned. “ i’ve been here a couple years now. i’m studying at oxford for my phd. ”

“I would have your ass handed to you if you didn’t. Personally send our father your exact location so he could come bother you,” she teased. “Ungrateful? Embarrassing? Those aren’t words I’d use to ever describe you,” Alessia grinned. 

“I am sorry that I am late. I got a last minute phone call and just wanted to make sure no one would would bother me. You have my undivided attention for the rest of the night or until you ditch me for someone more interesting,” the blonde joked as she turned the sound off her phone and pocketed it into her purse so she wouldn’t be distracted. There was no way something crazy would happen.

     “ you wouldn’t dare --- london’s made you cruel. ” the man chuckled, always with a tone of teasing between them. “ and good. i plan to ride off the fact i’m a decent brother as my one redeemable trait for the rest of my life. ”

      “ please --- you’re an important woman here. there’s no reason for me to stop you doing your thing. ” he nodded, genuinely proud of his sister, seeing her successful what truly what she deserved and few things could make the man happier. “ and i’m not going to ditch you for anyone jeez --- who do you think i am ? ” the man paused, “ though maybe if the brunette’s coming, she’s a looker. ” he raised his eyebrows in jest, shooting her a wink.

“Thank you, babe!” Alessia said into the phone, her heels snapping against the cold tile as she made her way across the hotel lobby to the bar. “Push that release till next week and reschedule all my appointments till tomorrow,” she continued as she spotted her brother, smiling at him as she finished up her call. “Thank you, babe!” The woman finished before turning off her phone to join her brother. “I am glad to see you in London. I missed you so much, big brother!” Alessia had called London her home for over a year now and as much as it hurt to be away from her brother…she loved living in the city with all her heart. Away from home, her father, and his expectations of her marrying some man and running a household. That life was never meant for her, she was meant to be in the city and working at a PR firm with plans of starting her own in the next few years. “What are you doing here? Missed me that much? I am supposed to be flying home in 2 weeks.”

    the man only swelled with pride as he saw her ( and heard her, the natter of her voice and clicking of shoes ) from a while away, leaning against the wall as he waited for her to make his way over. he had been much sadder than he would have ever admitted when she had first left for london. she might have been a grown up success, a pr dream, but she’d always be his baby sister. nothing could ever change that, or the love and pride he had for her.

      “ i’ve missed you too. ” the man muttered, pressing a kiss to her forehead as he gave the blonde a hug and a warm smile, before giving her a shrug, “ no need to sound so ungrateful. ” he chuckled, teasing her, “ i didn’t realize lunch with you brother could be so embarrassing. ”

          ‘ aw, you always say the sweetest things to me, carissimo. ’ karina leaned over to murmur in carlo’s ear, taking great delight in speaking his language. ever since they decided to be officially exclusive, she’d dived herself head first into learning as much italian as possible. it was easier for her to communicate with his family that way, and it was something that brought them closer together. unable to help herself, the blonde pressed a kiss to the underlying curve of his jaw, her attention wholeheartedly on him. ‘ – remind me to repay you later. ’ she tacked on with a flirtatious grin, giving her boyfriend’s hand another squeeze as they walked.

     she only gave the paparazzi her focus when they pleaded for a few pictures. rolling her eyes good-naturedly, karina used her free hand to pull her sunglasses away from her face, obliging for a picture to sell to god knows where. blowing a kiss to the camera, she slid her sunglasses back on as she tugged carlo around the next corner, not surprised that others were falling.

          ‘ oh please, they wouldn’t be imposing. my parents would love to have them. you know my mother, she dreams to have as many people as possible in that house of hers. do you think your family would want to come ? ’ karina waved away his worries. her family loved carlo, even ana who had taken more time to warm up. they’d be glad to have him and his at any time. pausing at the sight of the blinking open sign, the blonde paused as she noted the chinese menu. ‘ this is the place, right ? ’

      “ i do my best. ” the italian replied with a shrug and a smirk, his native language always sounding so beautiful from her lips. it had meant a lot that she had cared enough to learn too. granted living there now it might have been more of necessity, but he remembered the first time he had introduced the blonde to his parents and how well she spoke it. “ i doubt i’ll forget. ” he muttered, his own tone playful as she shot her a grin, making sure that he kept his arm around her, an act of both endearment and protection. you didn’t have to be in the limelight for very long to know the length people would go to for a photo. karina might have worked the cameras better than most, but it would be a bad move if some slimy photographer dared lay a finger on her to get an exclusive picture. 

      “ of course they would --- they love you. ” a party might have been a bit more extreme than the local eater egg hunt, but both his mother and sister adored the girl, and though his father never showed it, carlo knew that he thought she was good for him, gave him some stability. he doubted a big party would be his scene but if anybody would convince him, it would be his mother. “ besides, i’m sure they’d be excited to meet everyone else. ” it was hard getting a time that wold work for everybody with a family as big and as busy as the romanovs. his mother had always dreamed of a big family, though complications with marta had prevented her from having any more children and the male was sure that she would only embrace karina’s family with open arms, no matter how different they might have been.

      “ mhmm. ” the man hummed in agreement, pulling the door open for her before he eyed the menu, “ --- what were you feeling like ? ”

     karina kept her attention on carlo, even as their quiet bubble was immediately popped by the sight of the paparazzi. she knew it wouldn’t last long ; it never did. it didn’t matter if they were lingering outside the apartment or following the two into a restaurant for date night – the blonde couldn’t be rid of them even if she tried. instead of worrying about them, she just kept her gaze on her boyfriend, leaning over to absentmindedly press a kiss to his shoulder. she wasn’t private about a lot of things, but the main being how into him she was. she would gladly show that off to the entire world.

          ‘ of course, i’ll never let you forget it. i’ll remind you every waking moment of our lives. ’ some may consider it strange how karina spoke of the future with him as if it was a certainty, but for her – it was. in the end, it would be the two of them against the world and she’d clamor someone with her designer shoe if they tried to take that away from her. squeezing his hand firmly, the blonde adjusted her shades, concentrating on carlo’s voice instead of the stranger with a camera asking if the pregnancy rumors were true.

     lips pursed together, she swiftly thought of a solution, oceanic gaze landing on her boyfriend. ‘ – crucify you, no. but i’m sure they’d love to see you. if you want, i can fly them out for the weekend. my mom’s easter extravaganza is killer ; none of you would want to miss it. trust me. ’

   it might have been distracting at first,the papparazi, their relationship across headlines and people seeming asinvested in their relationship as he was --- sometimes even more --- but it hadbecome a constant with them, a blur. it never truly mattered anyway, when hewas with karina she was all the male cared about, all he could focus on,smiling at the blonde as she pressed a kiss to his shoulder, the man wrappingan arm around her waist, keeping her close as they navigated through the chaos.

     “having you around is enough of a reminder, i’ll only ever need to look at you to remember how lucky i am.” he chuckled, a smirk falling onhis lips, as his arm tightened around her, returning her kiss by pressing oneto her head, as they ignored the cameras in their face. their relationship haddefinitely been a whirlwind romance, carlo had never been more certain ofanything as when he’d told karina he loved her. perhaps it was why people couldbelieve something as ridiculous as her being pregnant.

     “ i think marta might actually die fromhappiness if that happened. ” he chuckled, “ but as long as they wouldn’t beimposing --- " it was hard to imagine his family at one of the romanov events,besides perhaps his sister, but they all knew how important karina was to him.

adalie was at their restaurant, or at least she felt like it was theirs. adalie and marguerite had been coming here for a while, and well adalie tended to get possessive. anyone who had ever been in a class with her could tell stories of how she clung to things such as desks and pens and even outlets in rooms because they were hers, she used them all the time and they became hers. and if she could learn table numbers she might try to always get them at the same table and it would be their table. she could almost hear her mother and others reminding her that it wasn’t possible to keep a table saved for them, which was true. but she would totally do it if she could. 

she was waiting and tapping her fingers on the table cloth. she thought they might have changed them. it didn’t made sense, because the old table cloth was good and this one had a vaguely itchy grain and she didn’t like it. she hoped that the menu hadn’t changed. she knew that certain foods just wouldn’t work for her, because she couldn’t bring herself to swallow them and this place gave her plenty of options that weren’t just the same grilled chicken and alfredo that many places had. it would only add stress to her if they took that away. 

“marg! i’m over here! i have so many things to tell you! please!” she waved at her sister. she needed this, while the PHD and other things piled up on her. 

    the pair of sisters couldn’t have been more different if they tried. adalie might have been stuck in routine whereas marguerite couldn’t have been flightier if she tried, it didn’t matter what it was. outfights, her hair --- husbands. her work being perhaps the only exception, nobody could truly place trust in her to stick with a pattern. though she always did her very best for adalie. they might have been different, but marguerite loved her no matter what, adalie perhaps proving that the usually stony woman had a heart.

     perhaps that’s why photographers were already waiting, the parisian ignoring their cries as she entered the restaurant, dazzling blue eyes scanning the restaurant for her sister --- not that she was particularly difficult to find, sitting at the same seat, at the same table they always did. a perk of being a du bourbon was money got you everywhere. it helped that the older girl was practically yelling at her, sparkling eyes giving a deathly stare at anybody who even dared to look at the girl strangely. perhaps adalie would be the only person she would ever forgive for using that god-awful nickname too.

          “oh, it’s alright. it’s only coffee,” grace replied with an absentminded smile at the other. and after the two had ordered, she slid over a twenty dollar note before stepping to the side once she’d gotten the change. “russian, is it?” grace asked, her mind sort of running on fumes and not quite there to realize how bold a statement that was. “my boyfriend is from russia originally, he has quite the accent,” grace continued with a smile at the mere mention. 

isa: thank god. there are better ways to be using your mouth.

     his smile made her weak to her knees, and it hadn’t lost that affect over their time together. most considered to karina to be rather flighty, always in search for something new – but carlo had been the one constant that lasted for quite some time now. she didn’t need to search for anything new when the best was already before. her lips widened as he kissed her, gently cupping his neck to return the kiss with ease. she knew their quiet little bubble would like erupt at a moment’s time, but for now she relished in the quiet intimacy that surrounded being only with him.

          ‘ but i’m so terrible with surprises. ’ karina retorted with a pout as she broke away for a short breath. ‘ besides, i already know your answer. i mean, look at me. you’re so damn lucky. ’ the blonde teased easily with a confident gesture at herself. she was not unaware of her good attributes. if she was being real, there were no negatives. lacing her fingers within his, she allowed him to guide her towards the chinese place, counting down the seconds before flashes would appear once more.

          ‘ my mom wants to know if you’re joining us for easter… i told her you probably want to spend it with your family. ’

   some might have proclaimed karina to be a handful, her life too difficult, especially for someone like him. and at time it was, they could go from being at each other’s throats, screaming at each other, only to return with their infatuation moments later. but he had never doubted whether it was worth it and there was few people who knew the girl like he did --- no matter their time together carlo’s adoration of the blonde had yet to change and it was these moments the man lived for, the quiet moments, when it was just them, away from everyone else.

     “ i am. ” he chuckled, lips against hers for one moment longer, arms tugging at her body before he broke away, “ not that you’d ever let me forget that. ” he raised a brow, small smirk on his lips as their fingers interlaced, pulling her close as the couple was met with cameras, the boy almost missing her words as commotion surrounded them, something he was accustom to, though never sure if he would truly get used to it.
