marauders era blog. I love both snape and the marauders and they were all terrible. but lily is my fave.
I don't support JKR.
Here are my thoughts on remaining in fandom.
I've been meaning to do one of these for ages lol, so here it is!
hello! this is a marauders era blog (though sometimes other hp stuff will make it on here) and I've had this blog since 2014 which is bonkers.
First of all: I love both Snape and the Marauders and they were all terrible, but that's why I like them. I prefer respectful, objective discussion and character analysis to hate or fandom wars. In my opinion, flaws are what make a character interesting!
The Darkest Days is my canon-compliant series on ao3, here is the official post. Right now part 4 is in progress, if you enjoy my takes on the characters pls check it out!
What About the Two Of Us? is my marauders era band AU focusing on Lily, in progress, currently updates every tuesday!
My askbox is always open and I love to chat about these characters. I like to keep things respectful when possible and I believe disagreement and difference of opinion is totally fine, and is actually a good thing, as long as it remains civil!
Characters are tagged by their first name: lily / severus / james / sirius / remus / peter / petunia
Additional tags: jily / snily / prongsfoot / snetunia / evans family / black family / snape family
My thoughts on remaining in fandom when you don't support JKR, and another post. In general I believe it's worthwhile to continue to have critical discussions about something as culturally relevant as HP.
Mostly on here I'll discuss the characters, post my own fic stuff, write meta, occasionally artwork (i'm trying to post more hehe) and also 70s photography/inspo.
Feel free to ask anything tbh, I really don't mind! but here is a brief FAQ:
How can you like Snape/James/whoever, they're terrible and what they did is unforgivable, they're abusers etc
While I'm not interested in convincing anyone to like anything, personally I don't base which characters I find interesting on their morality. You're allowed to like characters who do terrible things, and even enjoy them more because of it. It's fiction!
I don't find it useful or productive to apply extreme morally-loaded terms like 'abuser' or 'n*zi' to these particular characters, or, worse, calling fans of said characters 'abuse apologists' or 'n*zi apologists' etc. I find this unnecessarily inflammatory and I'd rather just talk about what those characters actually did from an objective standpoint. Nobody is evil for being a fan of a fictional character.
If you're truly interested in why I like Snape, here's a post about that. As for James, it's prob worth looking at my james tag linked above but here's my analysis of his character.
I hate Snape/I hate James
Cool, I love them tho
Lily was a terrible person because she married a bully/laughed during SWM
here's my response to the first! And as for her 'laughing,' she didn't. She had a momentary involuntary reaction and quickly got it under control. Because this is such a frequent topic I have a whole tag about it with multiple posts about my thoughts on the infamous nonsmile.
Lily was a whore/gold-digger/bitch/slut
I don't tolerate misogyny here, try again with words that don't show how much you obviously hate women.
While I obviously think people are allowed to dislike Lily, I find a lot of the extreme vitriol towards her lately unfair and unpleasant. This is a character that I love and I simply don't think she did anything that bad lol. The same way I don't go hunting for anti-Lily posts in order to attack people about it, I'd appreciate it if people didn't reblog my Lily posts or flood my inbox with long anti-Lily screeds, particularly when these are clearly based in one's personal issues or in misogynistic beliefs. I know I can't control this haha, I'm mostly saying this because the Lily hate revival has become particularly tiring recently.
If you have an issue with Lily, or my posts about her, you can express it civilly, without resorting to misogynistic language/tropes, personal attacks against her fans, and incendiary accusations. Then maybe we can have a chat about it!
Sorry if you've already answered this, but...
It's ok! Feel free to ask anyway, if I have already talked about it and I remember I'll link the post, otherwise I'll just answer haha. I don't expect people to know every single thing I've ever said on here, that would be silly.
What do you think about j*gulus?
I try not to.
Which Marauder is best at scrabble?
James. End of story. And nobody has ever disagreed with me on this opinion, ever.

hey, are you familiar with Wuthering heights by Emilie Bronte? I came up with a crossover ship : Lily x Edgar Linton. Your thoughts???
I'm not familiar since I've actually never read it 🫣 which is a bit embarrassing. Nor have I seen any adaptations. I'm kind of like Kate Bush when she wrote the song in this regard, I know there's a moor (probably) and Heathcliff, it's me I'm Cathy I've come home I'm so cooold. And I imagine the heights also wuther at some point.
Anyway, looking up that guy it seems like he's the husband of Catherine so there's kind of a heathcliff-snape edgar-james thing? I support you in this but also don't know the characters too well.
so I’ve got my own thoughts but let’s say in an AU where James and Lily survive and Harry still survives the killing curse and Voldemort vanishes and Harry becomes the boy-who-lived etc. basically canon but with James and Lily surviving.
Do you think Snape is still going to work with Dumbledore and teach at hogwarts and spy? I think he would because he doesn’t really have the option to sit it out (death eaters don’t get to resign) and second I think he’d want to atone for getting Lily targeted in the first place. Oh and I don’t think Dumbledore is letting him walk away. Although I also think he wouldn’t want her to find out about his role in prophecy or maybe thinks he’d tell her once the threat to Harry is gone completely.
Basically is he still relevant and how do you think he acts?
I’d really like to hear your thought on the matter if you don’t mind (and if you have any ofc)? Thanks!
Well Snape was working with Dumbledore before Lily and James were killed, so I think he'd have to keep working with Dumbledore. If it was informing to Dumbledore that saved Lily he also might feel a debt to Dumbledore.
I'm not sure he'd go to teach at Hogwarts if Lily and James were still alive, though. Perhaps he'd go abroad instead. Dumbledore would know that Voldemort was going to return and would want to use Snape as a spy later on, so I agree that Dumbledore likely wouldn't want to let Snape walk away. Maybe Snape would take the teaching position because it's also the best option for his own protection.
I do think if Harry had living parents that Snape had to answer to (particularly Lily) he'd definitely not be as cruel to Harry as he is in canon, he'd likely do his best to ignore Harry instead. He might not care about James's opinion but god forbid Lily gets wind that he's been mistreating her son in class. Imo he'd be too fearful of her reaction to treat him the way he does in canon-- but he also wouldn't be able to bring himself to be warm and kind to him so he'd just be distant and cold rather than cruel. In fact if he knew Harry could be reporting to Lily he'd be much less horrible in front of Harry, even to Neville.
I definitely don't think he'd want her to know about his role in the prophecy, and would beg Dumbledore not to tell anyone.
The way I see Lily at least, I think she would have tried to rekindle contact much earlier, knowing that Snape had turned against Voldemort. It would sort of wreck Snape's arc in a way because Lily's death is what makes him take the step from self-interest to selflessness. Without the fact that Voldemort killed the only person he'd ever cared about, having to bear the fact that Lily was married to someone he hated, he might well have slid back into bitter vengefulness over the years and betrayed her again. He wouldn't have the same drive to atone for what he did. Unfortunately he had to fully learn his lesson the hard way.
But I'm not sure! It would be an interesting AU to explore. I think the only way I could feel convinced about what he'd do is writing through it lol.
Either way I think he'd still be relevant! He's an important figure in Lily's life and a key asset for Dumbledore. Nobody else would be able to infiltrate Voldemort's ranks the way Snape could, but I think Snape's loyalty is a bit shakier if Lily and James both survive.
It's quiz night at the Three Broomsticks. Lily and Snape are a team, the Marauders are also a team. Who's winning? Who's contributing with what knowledge?
Ooh, I love this question because I love a pub quiz, but unfortunately I think the marauders are winning this one by a landslide... I just think the general knowledge between Sirius, James and Remus is so comprehensive.
James would be able to answer any Quidditch-related questions, which is already a massive advantage over Snily who literally would have 0 clue about that topic. The thing about a pub quiz team is you need balance, and the Marauders have it-- sports, culture, history, general knowledge. Snily by themselves cannot cover all of that, even though they'd have some general knowledge about magic itself. Like James's parents have been telling him stuff about the wizarding world his entire life, Snape doesn't have that.
James is the type to have retained quite a lot of general and cultural knowledge-- about geography or politics etc, but Sirius would also likely be able to cover that, as well as also just having retained random historical information over the years. He'd also have a lot of random trivia up his sleeve from Daily Prophet crosswords. Remus would know about dark creatures, particularly spirits, and I think he'd retain random information too. Peter would chime in extremely rarely but maybe know odd cultural things once in a while that could help them.
Unfortunately the Marauders are absolutely smoking Snily in this one... particularly given it's a wizarding pub quiz. Put them in a Muggle pub quiz and the opposite is true-- only Remus would know anything about the Muggle world and in quite a limited way, so if they were at a Muggle pub quiz Lily would carry, but I don't think either team would win against a well-balanced team of Muggles. Whereas in a wizarding pub quiz I think the Marauders could definitely win. It's a bit unfair honestly-- a muggleborn and a half-blood with limited knowledge of wizarding culture against the powerhouse that is Sirius, James, and Remus!

Everyone who has been following What About the Two of Us, thank you for your patience!! The final chapter is finished at last and will be up tomorrow, I'm sorry for the wait. This was probably the most difficult chapter to write rip, and I feel very sad to leave this universe behind!
As I've said, at some point I'll do a chapter of extra content. And since I've enjoyed writing this AU so much I might consider other AUs in the future!
I ended up composing Chapter 14's song, Nothing We Do! This one was a lot of fun to make and probably my favourite so far :D I'll edit the chapter to include it. As with the other ones, the piano part represents the vocals (Sirius.) Alas if I only had vocal ability+recording equipment...
Lyrics:
No glamour, in your glittering
Set aside your sights,
For a little bit
Like children can, lost in the sand
Lost in the sand
I’d sliced it, then was crucified
On the white parts of a stranger’s eyes
Mirror’s empty, and so
I’ve realised
Realised
If all there is to do is nothing
Then nothing we do
If one thing kills a search for something
Then nothing, that’s what we’ll do
The eagle, the eyes
Did I memorise?
Eagerness dies
And I’ve realised
If all there is to do is nothing
Then nothing we do
If one thing kills a search for something
Then nothing, that’s what we’ll do
But I do nothing the same
It's just the start
Of the play
btw I've decided to add an epilogue chapter to What About the Two of Us that will be kind of "extra content" in epistolary format: documents, news articles etc! so here is an unfinished preview :)
(ignore the other artists etc on here, I just put random stuff in to see how it would look lol)

How does it feel nearing the end of a fic? Is there ever any anticipatory nostalgia associated with leaving a universe and its characters behind?
I absolutely love what you did with What About the Two of Us, the characters are so interesting and I can’t wait to read the final chapter!
LOL I truly am awful at finishing fics most of the time, this is a big deal for me 😭 anyway thank you so much!!! I'm really glad you've enjoyed it. And thank you for the questions!
I'm proud of it but it also feels a bit sad honestly, to be leaving it behind! I know they're the same old Marauders era characters and I can write them whenever lol, but they do feel like particular versions of them that live in a particular universe, and at this point I've spent so long with their voices in my head. When I started writing it I was very careful about making sure each voice sounded distinct, but by the end I was so used to them that I could pick up in the middle of a Sirius pov for example and the Sirius in my brain would just automatically take over. And now idk what to do with that! hahaha
I keep saying this, but it was just so much fun to write and such a great challenge-- first person isn't very popular in fic (at least not on ao3) but I really enjoy it personally, especially with characters like these who are so dramatic and distinct. Maybe I'll revisit the WATTOU universe at some point, but I also like things to be self-contained lol so idk.... but I definitely might consider a similar-ish project in the future 🤔
Lily Evans is now known internationally as one of the greatest female artists of the 21st century. But before the fame, before the success— she was just Lily Evans, the super-groupie blamed for the downfall of legendary rock band the Marauders and that of their rivals, post-punk pioneers Death Eaters. Until now, nobody from either band has been willing to speak about what happened. So when up-and-coming musical reporter Ginny Weasley gets the opportunity of a lifetime, she takes her chance.
This is the story of Lily Evans, as told through interviews with Lily herself, and those who knew her best. This is a story about how the heart's not rational— at least, not when you want it to be.
(a daisy jones & the six-inspired AU. 17 chapters, updates weekly. Rated M.)
READ ON AO3.
Pairings: James/Lily, Remus/Sirius (main) Snape/Lily, Sirius/Lily, Marlene/Lily, Remus/Tonks, Harry/Ginny (secondary)
Content warnings: drug use (a LOT of it lol), addiction, discussion of suicide and sexual violence, some infidelity, many pretentious musical references, sex, some violence, rock and roll
i am VERY nervous about this chapter haha it's kind of crazy. but its up.... Featuring: jily wedding, a final confrontation between Sirius and Peter, and a jaguar XJS. 🫣
I agree with this, so let’s evidence our position:
Proposed study title: Kin Sacrifice and Partner-Focused Sexual Care: A Scoping Review of the Association Between Men’s Willingness to Die for Family and Willingness to Perform Cunnilingus
Aim:To examine whether the literature provides evidence that men who endorse or complete extreme self-sacrifice for family also show greater willingness, desire, motivation, or reported frequency of performing cunnilingus on female partners.

Before the war was fought openly, it was rehearsed in families.
Andromeda Black grows up in a house where blood is currency, daughters are strategies, and love is something to be disciplined out of existence. Bellatrix turns violence into purpose. Narcissa turns obedience into survival. Andromeda is expected to hold the line between them - compliant, clever, and quiet.
Ted Tonks disrupts everything: muggleborn, butch, unashamed and dangerously gentle.
Their relationship unfolds under the scars of blood magic disguised as protection, the threat of marriage framed as mercy, and a war that leaves no space for those who will not choose a side. As Andromeda is guided toward compliance “for her own good,” she realises escape is not betrayal, but the last choice left to her.
An Andromeda Black/Ted Tonks story from the dawn of the First Wizarding War until its end.
WIP - Going to be 12 Chapters - possibly more.
If you like the black sisters, pureblood politics, lesbian history, butch/femme culture, London history, medieval history, British folklore...this might be for you!

The latest post - refers to Lily as a ‘traitor’ while talking about Sev ships
I go a little down, it's getting better (not so bad)
But then!
Snily being compared to Andy and her boyfriend in The Devil Wears Prada with Andy being Sev.
Can't these people use the anti tags to tag their dogshit takes ??? (I blocked them)
oops I think this is from a while ago, sorry!! But yes, many such cases. I don't really look at the tags to be honest but I'm sure there are many bad takes :( it's annoying because you'd think people using the snily tag would be u know. fans of both characters, but alas.
Also lol I literally don't remember the boyfriend in The Devil Wears Prada but hang on-- Andy is Sev? Hahahaha. I guess I can actually kind of see it from what I do remember from the film, as in it's about Andy (Sev) being sucked into the Cutthroat World of Fashion (the Death Eaters) led by the Ruthless Meryl Streep (Voldemort) and going from outsider to Ruthless Fashionista (trusted Death Eater) herself before ultimately realising it's not for her. LMAO.... I don't remember whether the boyfriend was meant to be good or bad so idk what that's saying about Snily, but it's a pretty funny comparison tbf!
