slow burn or love at first sight - slow burn my beloved!!! there's just something sooo delicious about seeing two characters fall in love slowly

fake dating or secret dating - fake dating is probably one of my favourite fic tropes. yeah, it's deeply silly but also so fun and can hurt so much <3

enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers - both have their charm but due to dnp i have been reading much more of the second one.

there’s only one bed or long-distance correspondence - long distance is usually not very interesting to me in fics. the one bed trope is a rightfully an iconic classic. like yesss give me that awkward intimacy!!

hurt/comfort or amnesia - i am a little bit biased here because the first fanfic i ever read was an amnesia fic so that kind of stuck with me. nowadays it kind of depends on the fandom for me. i will absolutely eat up a magically induced amnesia (like we get in merlin a lot) but I feel like the medically induced ones tend to drag on for too long. absolutely love me some good hurt/comfort as well though

fantasy au or modern au - i love fantasy but for some reason putting non-fantasy characters in a fantasy setting just doesn't work for me

mutual pining or domestic bliss - ahhh yes mutual pining!! domestic bliss just kind of tends to bore me, sorry

smut or fluff - ideally a mix of bothhh

canon-compliant or fix-it - this one's harddd. very hard and depends on the fandom. but i think overall i tend to gravitate more to things that stick close to the canon

reincarnation or character death - well, you see, I am a bbc merlin blog. so. yeah i like my reincarnations. although a well written character death can also be great

one-shot or multi-chapter - I've grown to appreciate one shots more and more but i still prefer multi chaptered fics

arranged marriage or accidental marriage - anything to put two characters in an awkwardly intimate situation that forces them to confront their feelings

high-school romance or middle-age romance - high school aus annoy me so much like idgaf about your teenage drama!!!

time travel or isolated together - I was going to say time travel because that's such an interesting trope but some of my all time fave fics are the snowed in type of things so I'll have to go with that

neighbours or roommates - again, very intimate. also definitely dnp's fault again

sci-fi au or magic au - magicccccccccc!!!

body swap or gender bent - body swaps are sooo fun and so underused imo. i especially like this one with merlin when someone gets his magic through the body swap

angst or crack - angst but i'm always up for some crack

apocalyptic or mundane - there's some absolutely mindblowingly amazing apocalyptic stuff out there but i tend to find it a bit exhausting

slow burn or love at first sight: agh i loveeee building a relationship over time until the characters cannot bear to be anything but together anymore.

fake dating or secret dating: don't get me wrong, i also love fake dating... but secret dating has SO much potential for crackfics, misunderstandings (both silly and angsty... phan and hollanov, i'm looking at you!!). it's all around less predictable and much more fun to me. >:3

enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers: ENEMIES TO LOVERS ALL THE WAY. irl i am such a bffs to lovers person (misty knows this) but in fiction? ohhhh the enemies (or annoyances) to friends to lovers narrative is SO tasty.

hurt/comfort or amnesia: noooo this is so hard bc i really like to write hurt/comfort but i love me a good (typically silly) amnesia au. bonus points if you make it overly medically accurate, i get a kick out of that. since it's fanfic, i need the reassurance of a happy ending, though!!

fantasy au or modern au: MODERN AU MY BELOVED. first fic i ever wrote was a the last of us modern au, actually. they're like those movie-plots-explained-badly, i love both coming up with them and reading ones that are very true to characterization.

mutual pining or domestic bliss: POUR that pride and prejudice juice into my otp, please and thank you.

smut or fluff: ok so. if you asked me this a couple years ago my answer would be fluff 100%... but my tastes have matured, and i'm finding the best fics i have ever read usually have pretty good smut too, so imma go for both!!!

canon-compliant or fix-it: oh nooooo. it depends on the purpose of my fanfic reading, honestly, bc you should have seen me post-avengers: endgame. that being said, the best fix-its i read also stick super close to canon (except for... whatever is being fixed lmao) so canon-compliant wins for me.

reincarnation or character death: 13yo ser loved her hamilton reincarnation fics, whatcanisay... also MCD usually makes me cry so unless i am explicitly in the mood for that, i avoid it like the plague.

one-shot or multi-chapter: i have a thing for like... absurdly long one-shots that really could be multi-chapter based on word count but are designed to read in a beautiful flow state at 2am. i love em all, though. multi-chapter if my schedule gets busy and i need a week-long pick-me-up.

arranged marriage or accidental marriage: TAKE THOSE SUCKERS TO VEGAS. GET EM DRUNK.

high-school romance or middle-age romance: the world gets so much bigger after high school!!! also i love fics where older queer folks get to either fall in love or work through their relationship. single parent aus also really tickle my fancy for some reason (newsies single dad javey au, i am looking at youuuuu).

time travel or isolated together: you have to do this right, but time travel and dream fics that blur the rules of reality are sooooo friggin interesting to me.

sci-fi au or magic au: to quote misty... "magicccccccccc!!!"

body swap or gender bent: given that there is a criminal shortage of canon yuri in my life, GIVE ME the genderbent aus where you really think about how being f/f changes relationship expectations and dynamics compared to m/m. phyuri and hollanova forever. <3

angst or crack: crack *treated seriously* is both my favorite tag to read and write of all time. stretch the bounds of my imagination, let's get silly!!!

apocalyptic or mundane: something something "doing laundry and taxes with you." i like my comfort fics to feel like little homes. ^_^
