the funniest thing about tom wambsgans winning succession is that he literally can't hack it. he's going to die of a heart attack in the next five years, like his body and mind literally cannot take the stress. he's gonna be on his deathbed wishing he had just gone back to fucking minnesota.

crazy to me that a decent chunk of people hated the finale because it just makes so much sense to me dramaturgically. like especially the later half. kendall inflicting pain and comfort to roman at the same time, pressing romans fresh wound into him as he hugs him. roman falling into place because thats the only form of comfort he can stomach. shiv seeing, once again, roman fold under the command of violent older family member, seeing kendall say "thats fucking right" after roman votes against the gojo deal in the same way logan would when roman complied to his demands. shiv being confronted with seeing her older brother turn into her father, and reconsidering everything. and kendall only digs his hole deeper, turning vile and mean. when you grow up with a mean man in your house there's always one there even if hes gone. shiv confronting kendall about the waiter and he denies it even happened. says it wasnt real. no real person involved. kendall again using violence towarda roman as a motivator but this time its different and he fights back because nothing fucking matters. shiv votes for the deal and kendall is once again too late to do anything. its already been done. tom sucking the biggest dick in every room.

The most tragic thing this episode to me is Kendall recanting his confession. That was the one real thing he’d offered his siblings, and he took it back, and now he can’t un-take it back. And they’d given him something real in return, the best version of tenderness they could muster, and now that’s gone too. Kendall was never going to be CEO, but maybe he could’ve been a less lonely man, less apart from the world. (Or maybe not, the trick to tragedies is they always seem avoidable and inevitable at the same time.) Kendall, alone, Colin trailing behind him…he did get to be his dad in the end 

god and how FUCKED is it that the succession ultimately hinged on shiv’s choice, but it was actually no choice at all. your brother (empty husk groomed for power his whole life) or your husband (empty husk who craved power his whole life). for five minutes she had the most power in the room, but it was actually nothing.

wait kendall sterility is making me sooo insane…….LITERALLY IN S3 LOGAN WAS DRINKING SMOOTHIES AND TRYNA HAVE ANOTHER KID WITH KERRY….he was trying to connor the siblings!!!!! connor loony and roman gay and kendall sterile so it had to be shiv. except it cant be shiv because what would that do to the social contract between men to keep all property between them. so it had to be tom. sorry like the actual ‘succession’ of it is so so interesting

logan's mausoleum having space for all of their bodies to be entombed.. they'll all be trapped forever in a room with an angry man

listen i don’t care if you agree with what shiv did in the finale or not but the most relatable sibling moment in the entire ending was her seeing her older brother put his feet up on their dead fathers desk already gloating and smirking in self satisfaction or hearing him mutter “yeah that’s fuckin right” after roman’s hesitant vote and immediately being like “yeah actually I would rather be skinned alive than watch this play out in real time”
