NEW MUSIC: KWALIA RELEASE NEW TRACK "PULSE" VIA SOUNDCLOUD

In case you missed last week's announcement by Don't Panic, Kwalia is the soul-filled collaborative project from New Zealand born singer and producer Jordan Rakei (pictured left) and London based composer and producer Richard Melkonian (pictured right). If intricately composed melodies, irregular time signatures and abstract soul are your thing, the distinct sounding first release Pulse is right up your street. The mood and tone of this track bares much similarity to Rakei's latest LP Cloak which Melkonian contributed to on the track Rooftop.

You may recognise him from our first #SelectiveSessions but if you’re unfamiliar with Big D, he’s a upcoming and vibrant Christian rapper hailing from South West London. The release of his debut EP Looking Back in August 2016 indicates that this scene is still alive, growing and shows no signs of slowing down. Last week Sunday we were invited to #LookingBackLive, the 21-year-old rapper’s first ever headline show where he showcased his six track project alongside a very dope live band (Exposure) and supporting acts.

These included:

MUNDU - “South London’s best kept secret” who performed his rendition of an Outkast classic as well as a few tracks from his latest self-produced EP entitled Qollapse.

Hope Dealers - The Christian UK rap trio came to shut... things.. down, with flow and bars for days. It was our first time seeing them live but certainly not the last.

DJ Selenki - For all the Grime heads out there #SelenkiSessions set was nothing short of high energy and passion at 140bpm. Check out his soundcloud page to see what we mean!

Big D - One thing you’ll discover after the first listen of Big D’s EP is his versatility in genre, tasteful choice of collaboration and genuine sense of vulnerability as he shares his lived experiences through his music. Tracks like "Get To Know" and "Made New" will take YOU the listener on Big D's journey and explore how his faith has shaped him...now imagine that alongside a live band and guest vocals from Ms. Trudie B! Very very dope. Our favourite track shares its name with EP title and we guarantee you’ll have learnt the chorus after one play... it’s that good.
