I find it bizarre that Anubis is commonly considered the scariest god in egyptian mythology. Like, he's not even the god of death, he's god of funerals and undertaking. He's part of the soul judging process, but technically all the actual judging is done by a feather, literally all he does all day is calibrate a scale and sometimes chuck a heart to his tiny pet croc-lion-hippo thing. His dad is the beast god of sandstorms and destruction, his aunt/mom once almost killed the sun, and somehow he's the scary one.
