I'm kinda conflicted with softer yanderes, tbh because I'm very picky when reading about them, but in general they are my favorites (´ ω `♡) more specifically for horror and comedy purposes. The horny is reserved for the more brutal ones.

Softer yanderes are usually scarier and better written in my humble opinion, since they can't rely on physical violence and more blatant abuse for the horror aspect; so they have to make up for it with the mentality and less direct, creepier actions. I just really love it when I put down the phone and there's a lingering fear and disgust after reading about a very manipulative therapist gaslighting their lovely patient, someone that keeps mixing cum and blood and many other things on their partner's food, or just some incessant rambling about wanting to crawl under one's skin to feel closer. Toma from Amnesia was a very good one. Boy really didn't care that the mc was left a mumbling barely alive thing, because he did it with care and love <3
