I figured Kaz might want a piece of that bootleg pie for his club… and the interesting puzzle that involves this guy having his dead brothers name

Jeez it's been a while. Guess who got colored pencils huh??

So I was thinking about that anime "91 Days" right? Long story short (from what i can remember from like,, years ago) its a long convoluted revenge plan to kill a mafia family, that took in the protagonist bc his best friend made the "best moonshine" out there

So im thinking- make it SoC Jordie lives related right???

In this story he lives and winds up in whatever CPS system that Ketterdam has got- decides to be a doctor and begins his education in Blendit. The moonshine, or Jenever (Dutch moonshine, made of Corn, Rye, and Barley. Think early form of Gin) started out as a hobby until a friend who came from the city, and one of the first people Jordie helped - Bolliger, convinced him to begin selling it. Before Jordie could even blink the drink became a hit, and the beginnings of a public college sized bootleg empire. Not one to turn away from a money-making opportunity Jordie began selling the same drink when he moved to Ketterdam to continue funding his doctorate (anybody whos anybody gets their degree from KU) And wouldn't you know it? Selling bootleg liquor in a crime infested city attracts *criminals*

Now he has to balance negotiating with barrel bosses for his recipe/life along with his class average!! The humanity!!

this street rat would pummel tf out of this small town nobody

but fr it was great seeing Freddy Carter in FNAF 2

One made him into a cryptid that lurked the Ketterdam harbor, another had him joining the tides, the third had him working on a merchant vessel-

my personal favorite is the third, bonus points if he gets caught up in barrel business caused by his little brother and is attacked bc jordie was mistook for Kaz, ending with jordie in a scuffle as he shouts amidst the chaos “whO ARE YOU?? I DONT KNOW YOU??” at his attackers

Some quick notes I have for Tidemaker!Jordie

*I had imagined him developing a fear of drowning post plague so the irony of him being a tidemaker with a fear of the ocean is funny to me

*he learned the Hurdy Gurdy just to annoy his coworkers

*he would rather hold the vessel afloat like Atlas carried the sky before he’d ever let it sink with him on it

*maybe if he didn’t waste his check on new books, or pens/paper he could save enough to attend university and finally become a doctor but that takes planning and responsibility

As a small tangent idea what if as a semi powerful tidemaker he got captured by the shu for their early parem experiments and he meets the Bayur family and helps them escape only for Bo to die during that Fjerdan ambush at the Ravkan port and now jordie finds himself stranded at the ice court with the scientist son’s hand clutched in his own and doesn’t this all feel brand new and morbidly nostalgic to be left alone with impossible odds and a kid to care for????

My only gripe is that in most stories I read he is written to run away from the city…

These brothers aren’t too different, Jordie would be anchored to the city by grief just as kaz was

In this one jordie takes on the mantel SilverTongue on account of his manipulative words and silver smile on the thick mesh mask I can’t draw for some reason

It’s a Jordie lives au where they both stick together in Ketterdam after the plague. Jordie takes on the role of Dirtyhands and sends kaz to university to study.

What fascinated me the most is Jordie and Kaz’s view of their PTSD, where Dirthands Kaz saw it as a weakness, something that must be hidden, a deep shame. And Dirtyhands jordie ignored its presence, unintentionally triggering episodes by running recklessly headfirst, and not even thinking twice before diving into the water… his fears always took a back seat for the job, his crew, or his family. (Kaz would do this too, but it was always a last resort. Jordie seemed to make it a weekend out of it)

Amazing read!!!

But!!! Making a story after the canon events in the books requires planning- and setting, and plot-! And i do not have the creative talent for such things

however!! Let me present these!!

Idea 1 - Matthias doesn’t get to die

Jordie is currently studying medicine at Ketterdam University during the events of Crooked Kingdom and like any sensible civilian he ran like hell when the plague bells chimed

he paused in an alley to hide away from the crowd and over hears an altercation between what seems to be a deserter and a druskelle

After a small moral debate he decided that he’s not just going to pretend like he doesn’t see the shot man dying on the cobblestones, and moves to help

Idea 2 - Can’t a guy just mourn in peace?

jordie was visiting Black Vail, sitting on the bench dedicated to the souls that were not buried, sharing a hot chocolate with a ghost (you know, mourning, as you do)

when this panicked, loudly dressed, gangly man asked if he was a doctor- without an an excuse ready to NOT follow the stranger, jordie finds himself tasked with delivering a child

I’ve Frankensteined a headcannon for Jordies childhood via several writers and my own grey matter

Starting with “How odd is it to be haunted by someone that is still alive” by Formulex

-Jordie doesn’t drown, he gets washed away to a further port

from there similar to Kaz, jordie had to survive on his own for a while

then, pulling from another fanfic “A Guest Worthy to be Here” by endoftheworldhere

-Jordie gets placed into Ketterdam Child Services, essentially legal child indentures, where he has to work in a Textile Mill to pay off the Kerch government for taking him in

He works there until he’s 18 and finally can work towards freeing himself of his brothers ghost

Pulling from “The Paradox of Chance” by ofcatsanddragons, jordie seeks forgiveness by becoming a Doctor, once he can cure the sick- maybe his brothers soul could finally rest

he obtains his GED, and bachelors out in Blendit, then sets his sights on Ketterdam University for his Doctorate

I had imagined his nightmares were more centered around drowning than touch itself

leaning towards a fear of suffocation

and nightmare kaz is hardly angry,,, just a manifestation of Jordies guilt- he reminds Jordies of all the broken promises he’s made

There’s currently five chapters when I read it, chewing through the story like a rabid dog

but this story has idea BONES! Bones that I like

the gist is that jordie becomes a doctor because he’s haunted by the (alleged) death of his little brother, and returns to Katterdam to study at the university

I enjoy the foil of how jordie and kaz would respond to grief, Kaz becoming a monster to slay other monsters (blaming Rollins) , and jordie becoming a doctor to cure plagues (blaming the queen’s lace)
