ZoĆ« pinned Scott against a wall, her breath sweet and coppery. Her pupils constricted, eyes twitching under the mental strain. Pulses of red splintered through her left eye, splitting the sea of emerald green. Her bruised hands shook as she held a knife against his pulse point. Multiple muscles in her face twitched, rippling as rocks dropped into a tussling sea. No amount of hatred could make her do it. Not even when tormenting the others could she strike vital organs.Ā
āGͤAH!ā ZoĆ«ās voice drifted between two beings, distorted by the share of one body. āįŗhaͬĢt mĢͧakĶe̦̫s y̓̄ou soĢ¬Ķ sĢpeĶͬcįøÆĆ lĢ?ā
The knife clattered to the floor, slipping out of hands. She punched Scott, throwing him to the side. Her nose wrinkled as she stared down the hall, dissociating. She tilted her head, the world turning into a Dutch tilt with memories blurring into the background.
āShe hates you. Wë̶ ḫͦaĶte you, but I canāt do it. Why canāt I do it?ā
@impulsive-spitfire
Scott's side bursts with pain the moment he hits the ground, shades flying right off his nose and clattering somewhere nearby. He's no stranger to being flung around like a rag doll, but it hurts a little more when the one flinging you happens to be a girl you know. Or... once knew. That voice was almost unrecognisable, like a garbled recording āĀ once something familiar, now mangled beyond its innocence. Scott fumbles around for his glasses before shoving them on. It doesn't sound like ZoĆ«'s going to try anything right now, but you can never be too careful.
"What are you... What are you talking about?" he asks. "Zoƫ?"

The evening sky twinkled with stars and the moon beams cut through the thick of the woods surrounding Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. All the students had long since gone to bed as had most of the staff except for the usual offenders of staying up late like Hank in his lab or Charles in his study.
Not far from the school, one young boy finally jumped off a late night bus he had taken all the way from Harlem to Westchester in hopes of escaping his group home. Elias Duke had always known he was different and it all began when he first felt another person's sadness. His social worker's to be exact. He had felt every inch of the sadness and pity that woman felt for him, resulting in his mutation producing enough water from his hands to fill an Olympic swimming pool.
Elias followed the drive up to the school, a small wave of relief washing over him when he noticed a few of the lights still on. He held tight to his backpack straps, anxiously approaching the front steps of the school. The anxiety bubbled and pulsed inside of him, causing the lights inside and outside the mansion to flicker on and off.
Elias reached up and knocked on the tall wooden doors, silently hoping someone would answer and be able to help him.
@scottsummers-cyclops
The man who answers the door isn't unfamiliar to Elias ā tall, with ruby red sunglasses shielding otherwise very tired eyes framed by deep eye bags and neatly combed brown hair ā Scott Summers. Even at this time of night, he manages to maintain the image of a who's probably never faltered in his life. Ever. In most cases, just that facade would be enough to fool anybody. But to someone like Elias, there might just be an exhaustion wafting through the air from Scott's very presence.
Those red glasses tilt downwards in Elias's direction. Somehow, with just the slightest angle of Scott's head, the man manages to go from formidable leader to trustworthy teacher. He pulls the door open wider.
"Ah. I was hoping I'd see you again," Scott says, his voice warm. "Come in."
Elias had bumped into Scott "by accident". In actual fact, the Professor had sent Scott to investigate a young mutant he had picked up on Cerebro. The boy had simply been walking back to his group home when he crashed into Scott's leg and gazed up to meet those ruby red lenses.
Now, here they were again and that same feeling of relief calmed Elias enough to stop the lights flickering. "H-Hello, Mister Summers. You, uh, said I could come here if I needed help?" Elias reminded, praying that the offer was still on the table. The mansion seemed giant compared to a small boy stood in huge hand-me-down clothes.
Of course, those clothes were now damp from the rain that had hit New York as Elias made his escape. "I-I hope that's okay?"
"I wouldn't have said it if it wasn't, would I?" Scott responds with a small smile.
He nods into the mansion again, encouraging the young boy to follow him in. From here, Elias can only really see the huge staircase leading upstairs, and two doorways that go further into the mansion. But it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it's a lot warm inside. A lot safer, too, if Scott is to be trusted.
"Most of our students are asleep by now... I'd hope so, anyway. So you came at the perfect time to quietly get adjusted."
Elias pulled his backpack straps up onto his shoulders as he stepped inside. The lights were warm and there was a low hum of calm that Elias could feel. He glanced up to Scott, watching the man close the door. "So, this place is a school? Is there lots of students or is it kind of a smaller bunch of kids?" Elias asked curiously, rocking on his heels a little.
It was an interesting mixture of emotions Elias was feeling, all underpinned by the calm. His small frame shivered under the damp clothes and strands of his dark hair clung to his damp forehead. "Y-You wouldn't happen to have a towel, would you, sir?"
"We have quite a number of students, yes. I hope that doesn't scare you off," Scott jokes.
He flashes a quick smile at the boy, sort of awkward, but he's trying. Elias doesn't need a leader, right now. Just an adult he can trust. Scott's eyes do a quick sweep over the boy's form, making mental notes of every little thing ā his clothes, his posture, his overall outlook. The kid was nervous, that much was obvious. But most students are the first time they get here. Scott's sure he'll adjust in no time, given he actually stays. Right now, though, Elias was still damp from the rain, which meant a hot shower was needed lest he fell sick.
"I do, don't worry. We'll get you cleaned up and settled in and then, we can answer all the questions you have," Scott assures him. "The students' dorms are just upstairs, if you'll follow me."

Open RP - Bad Days
(Tw for a depiction of a panic attack)
Everyone had their bad days, it can be something small. For Kira, it took a lot to push her over.
"Woah-"
Scott stumbles backwards and grabs his glasses before they can slip off his nose. He's about to reassure the teen as he rubs his nose bridge before noticing her on the ground. A peculiar sight. They hadn't bumped into each other that hard, had they? No, this seemed like more than just a little pain from walking into somebody. Scott swears he hears... crying. Sniffling. He crouches to Kira's level, knees popping as he groans.
"Hey, kid... Are you hurt?"
She looks up, her eyes shining with fear.
āI- Iām sorry, Iām not hurt- Iām sorry- I didnāt mean to-ā
hic
Kira stared into the space beyond him, her breathing refusing to slow. The magical girl had her skirt tightly grabbed in her hands, as if squeezing the lacey fabric hard enough could make things right.
Scott keeps his distance but crouches lower. He holds his hands out in front of him, giving Kira the option to accept comfort if she wants it. He offers her a gentle smile.
"Hey, hey, you're okay," he says, his tone kept low and unintimidating. "I wasn't looking where I was going, either. Kind of on me. Just breathe, alright?"
āOh- Okay- Iām sorry-ā
She sobs, attempting to use box breathing. It felt like her chest might explode.. Kira wasnāt supposed to act like this. She was being out of character. She was being bad.
She leans forward, almost falling into him. She was.. surprisingly small up close for someone with such a large costume.
"Woah, woah, alright-"
He carefully catches Kira by the arms and steadies her. This isn't exactly an unfamiliar sight to Scott, being a teacher and all, but that doesn't make it any easier. Quickly, he looks around and spots an old bench nearby.
"How about we sit down? Can you stand?"
āOkay..ā
She repeated the same phrase, almost stumbling as she started to stand up.
This was embarrassing. This was so embarrassing. She was horrible at this..
Scott gingerly but steadily helps Kira to the bench. He sits next to her, hunching over with his shoulders slumped in an attempt to look smaller than he is. It probably wouldn't help Kira if he towered over her while she's in this state.
"There you go... Just breathe. You're sure you're not... physically hurt?"
āYeah- yeah Iām ok. I just get dizzy- I get dizzy when I cry.ā
Which is why she shouldnāt cry.
Kira lets out a quiet sob, once again starting to curl up on the bench.
āIām a disappointment.ā
Oh. Oh. Okay. This was one of those moments.
In the short moment that Scott freezes, it seems like Kira only gets worse. He pulls himself out of it and awkwardly puts his hand on the girl's shoulder, squeezing (what he hopes is) comfortingly.
"Hey, now, I'm- I'm sure you're not. What makes you say that?"
āMagnus- he- he said that-ā
She shakes her head.
āIām doing bad at this. I need to get better and I need to be better and itās my job to be better and-ā
"Hang on, hang on, slow down, kid."
Scott puts both his hands on Kira's shoulders now. He's really not the best guy to go to for this, despite his years of experience as a mentor. Comforting people has never gotten easier over the years. If anything, people keep finding new and uncomfortable ways to need Scott's support. Not saying he hates it, he'd just love it if all problems could be solved by an objective solution rather than... feelings.
"Breathe, okay? One thing at a time. Who said you're bad at what?"
Kira flinches at the sudden movement, trying to slow her breaths.
āMy agent. He- he said Iām disappointing everyone who looks up to me, and Iām going to be why craft services interns lose jobs and Iām lazy and itās- Iām bad.ā
Scott frowns and grimaces in judgement. Who the hell would tell a kid that?
"Your agent doesn't sound very supportive. You seem to have... more responsibilities than anybody should have."

My back hurts so bad. Is it possible to teach lessons from my bed?
Mr.Summersā¦
Say hypothetically some kid couldnāt sleep due to a conundrum of the light to darkness ratio in their room.
Could- hypothetically. That kid have access to a nightly source of light??
( translation: Heās scared of the dark and wants a night light š)
@sensorry-overload
Hey, kid. If you need a night light, you just have to ask. I'll see if somebody could get it for you. Or maybe I have something lying around in my office. Do you need it by a certain time?
Hypothetically! By tonight, 9pmā¦
Tonight works. I found an old lamp I don't use anymore. Would that work?
Yes, that works. Thanks Mr.Summers!
Good to know :) You can come by my office and get it. I don't... think I have any free time today.

Say hypothetically some kid couldnāt sleep due to a conundrum of the light to darkness ratio in their room.
Could- hypothetically. That kid have access to a nightly source of light??
