Kira sticks her tongue out dramatically, rolling her eyes. She’d been filming for hours at this point.

Nublo giggles and grabs her around the waist, pulling her briefly into the void, then out in a shady aclove in a park on the edge of the city.

"Your wish is my command!"

She immediately stomps on the dirt in excitement, laughing confidently.

“We are SO back!!”

Kira hugs her brother quickly, a silent thanks.

“Don’t tell me, there were signs about the live recording already?”

He returns the hug, nuzzling against her face in friendly greeting. It had been a minute since he hung out with his sister and boy had he missed her.

"Fans lined up around the block? Oh and a huge billboard by the highway."

”I knew it. They never vet anyone! Any rando is allowed to walk up to ask questions.”

By the time she’d finished talking, she’d already switched out her ballet flats for a pair of sneakers.

“Have you like, I dunno, stole someone into the void recently?”

Confused, he tilts his head slowly. "Stole someone into the void? What do you mean by that? Was it different? If anyone asks you weird questions, I'll kill them for you. It'll be funny and then you can pretend to fight me and the producers can pretend to be happy about it."

She smiles, giving a smug chuckle.

“-but like, what’s been up in the underworld? I promise I won’t thwart anyone I shouldn’t, just curious!”

"Oh. To be honest, it's been sh- cruddy on my end. I think Voss is doing well. He got new poison as part of a job which almost convenced me to apply. He doesn't want me to work there though."

Nublo shrugs.

"How about you? I mean, other than the lies they tell on the tv."

Kira frowns.

“It’s been the same as always, they almost made me shave my head for a media stunt. Still trying to push it.”

“..Do you two need help with anything?”

"Uh...what do you know about raising teenagers?"

”What do I know about whuh-“

“…did you steal a kid or something? ..you better not be replacing me.”

She chuckles, still looking confused.

He sighs, running a hand through his bangs.

"Voss... Says that Nes told him to adopt a kid. So we can't really fight against that."

Little head tilt.

Slowly processing.

"Oh my gosh. Have I never told you about Nes?"

Blink blink.

"Oh. Um. They're this deity to who lives inside me?"

“That.. makes more sense than I thought!”

She smiles a bit awkwardly.

“…They aren’t evil or anything, right?”

"I don't think they get to be good or evil."

He shrugs.

"Someday maybe you can meet them."

“I hope they like me. I think if they didn’t I’d die.”

Nublo had found a new technique, thanks to the help of mentors he would not name. Concentrating the shadows on his arms and hands, he could increase his strength by a fair amount. This of course, only encouraged him to work out more. The increased focus on gaining strength, combined with actually eating thanks to his boyfriend and sister, had done an incredible job in terms of helping him put on weight.

Now, as he takes off his sweaty shirt while practicing his new technique combined with a deadlift, the muscle gains are for the first time put on full display. With a messy ponytail, skin that finally had some colour to it, and muscles shiny with sweat, there is no denying it-

He was healthy! Kira marveled at the sight of her brother, lifting things that would take her a lot of effort… She was so proud.

The magical girl chuckles as she runs in.

“Nubloooooo!! You’re literally carrying something heavier than me!”

He drops the weight to turn and catch her, and pull her into a hug.

"Kira!!! You didn't tell me you were coming! Yes, it is quite a bit heavier than you." He laughs. "This new techneque is incredible!"

She squeezes her brother, laughing.

“You’re so lucky, Beanpole! I have to work out on machines!”

She leans her head on him, making a soft squeak.

“You’re my favorite.”

"Favorite what?" He pats her head. "What do you mean machines?"

”Favorite brother, favorite bestie, favorite guy.”

She smiles.

“I’ve got to use these things with pulleys all over them, they’re safety rigged so I don’t drop my weights on myself.”

"Safety is good, though. Just because I risk my life to heave lumps of metal around, doesn't mean you should."

He lets her go and steps back.

"Have you grown? Or got a hair cut? Something is different."

PAST AU: Nublo is still very small and under the control of a lab.

A child. That was new. Well, this one was at least. They were wearing headphones that weren't connected to anything, and a puffy jacket that didn't match their shorts. They clasp the headphones with both hands, holding them on firmly as they spin slowly around to take everything in.

They're skin is as pale enough to see each of their tiny veins and the purplish birthmark on his right leg shows up like a bloodstain. Well, most of the purple on the leg was a birthmark, some of it was bruising. The shadows under their eyes suggest a rather poor sleep schedule, and the scabs on their lips tell tale of a nervous habit.

A child. Ignored by the adults around them, they seem happy to just take everything in.

A blue haired girl in a white t shirt (reading Dragon Fire Media) looked down from a window, tilting her head.

She shifts, jumping from the window to the ground quickly. Soon, a bandage covered girl was following the boy with a curious expression.

Kira taps him on the shoulder.

“Are you lost?”

He jumps, then giggles, pulling off his headphones. "Da," he agrees, taking in the girl before him. "But it's okay. I wanna be lost."

He frowns. "You hurt?"

”Yeah, but it’s just how I get tough! I’m gonna take down all the bad guys one day.”

She puts her hands on her hips, flicking her tail proudly.

“Why you wanna be lost?”
