wow! it's been a while. I stopped doing repairs as my job since 2023, and have since moved into software development. but I still repair on my own as a hobby, and some bow rehairs. here's a key rebuild i did in late 2022, everything above the sharpie mark was done with round brass stock by mostly hand filing and grinding. braze point was at the sharpie mark, you can see where the "new" brass is due to it still being unlacquered and more bright

Still not quite perfect, more blending work needs to be done, but after 20 or so minutes it looks like a trumpet bell again!
BIG changes!
I have decided to take a job offer from a store locate in Pittsburgh as a woodwind technician and luthier! The next month or two will be focused on getting the store I'm currently at into a good place technician wise, then off to Pittsburgh!
Yikes! It was hanging on by a thread, but thankfully I found a replacement bell for this guy. Rest of the horn was in perfect condition though, really makes you think....
Not an instrument per se, but the store's humidifier blew a surface mounted fuse on the board. Got to break out the multimeter which is always fun!

Before and after a cleaning and polish on a trumpet!
A before and after of a violin I repaired recently. Took off the fingerboard to install a dowel to support the break, glued it up, and then filling and color work. Turned out fantastic!
Looks like a parent tried to remove a stuck piston with a screwdriver. Went through the vent on the bottom and right through the bottom port. Thankfully it's a modern euphonium so parts can be sourced. If a piston is stuck, please bring it in to a technician!
