Welcome to Coolsville, the best little small town in Ohio.
β¦except for right now, but thatβs not reallyΒ SCOTT BISHOPβS (MASON GOODING)Β fault, is it? Known as theΒ THE LEADERΒ around town,Β HEΒ is just your friendly neighborhoodΒ GYM TEACHER/ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH. Sure they can beΒ PROUDΒ andΒ OBLIVIOUS, but they can also beΒ SUPPORTIVEΒ andΒ CHARISMATICΒ just like any otherΒ TWENTY FOURΒ year old. That doesnβt mean they have anything to do with our string of recent chilling events, thoughβ¦ right?

Scott Bishop was your average, happy kid growing up in Coolsville. His parents had lived there and their parents before them, and so on and so forth. Coolsville ran through Scottβs veins and he never had an issue with it. He knew its streets like the back of his hand, and could probably navigate it blind if asked. He had an average, run of the mill childhood - nothing to complain about. Loving parents who cared for him and only ever argued if someone forgot to buy milk or the little things. They werenβt an affluent family by any means but they were comfortable. When Scott was 10, his parents surprised him with the arrival of a baby brother. If you asked them, they were pretty surprised too.Β
Scott tried his hardest to be the best big brother imaginable. He helped his father build a new cot, organised toys the baby could play with (even though a newborn is far too young to play with Hot Wheels). As the years have progressed on, Scott has liked to think heβs done a good job at being an older brother, at being a good role model. He was always the shining star, surely that was a good example for his little brother.
When Scott was 15, his father passed away in an accident, and suddenly Scott had to step up. His entire world changed. In the aftermath, he tried to help his mother by shouldering some of the responsibility, becoming the man of the house. He got a job to help with the bills around the house - his motherβs weekly pay as a nurse was decent but not enough to cover bills and feed two young boys. Coincidentally, the job that he got was one at the hardware store his dad had owned. The family had sold it after the accident and the new owner offered Scott a part time job. He supposed it was their way of trying to help his family out.
In fact, Scott found a lot of support from the town in the wake of his fatherβs death. It gave him an appreciation for the little town he called home.Β
Throughout school, he was very involved. Getting onto the football team led him to a road of popularity which was only helped with his easy going nature. That popularity only helped him when he campaigned to be Class President - who could resist that smile? It didnβt hurt that he had some decent ideas. Those leadership qualities only helped him become football captain which in turn secured the prom king title. He would like to say he worked hard for all his titles but in reality he didnβt do much. It was easy to skate by on charm and a smile and a few smart lines. However, that success did go to his head quite a bit.
He would like to think he was never just handed anything, but he did coast. He supposes that lack of drive is the reason he never really found out what he was passionate about. He was good at a lot but he never really knew what drove him. Sure, football was great and it helped him get into university but did he really want to do that the rest of his life? Did he really want it to be his shining moment in life, the peak of his existence that heβll still bring up when heβs 50 and nothing else going for him? He prefers not to think about it honestly.Β
Scott went to university where he studied business. Not passionate about it in the slightest but he had to do something and it was broad enough. He spent his university years partying and flirting and studying a little - he still wanted to do his parents proud.
Upon graduation, he moved back to Coolsville andβ¦ went back to working at the hardware store. Scott is telling himself that itβs just a transition period and that heβll be up and out of there in no time. He just has to figure it out. And heβs using it as an excuse to help his mom. She tells him she doesnβt need the help, sheβs doing fine but she goes along with it. She doesnβt want to rip the safety blanket from him just yet.
It was only natural that Scott would help with the search for Charlotte. He could only imagine if it was his little brother that went missing: he would tear up the streets just to find him. Not only that, but Coolsville was home and its people were family. They did so much to help him and his family after his dadβs death. The least he could do is return the favour and help.
He would never admit this to anyone, but the search and joining a team has given Scott a sense of excitement. What has happened is horrible and he wouldnβt wish it on anyone but this is what he needed - something to light the fire under his ass, to give him a sense of purpose again. He no longer feels stuck in a rut - and heβs really unsure about what that says about him.
Despite being in his rut, he does still hold obnoxious tendencies. He doesnβt mean to, but after being treated like some type of royalty, he does tend to think heβs usually right. He will listen - sometimes the greatest plays can come from the most unlikely of benchwarmers, but his pride can get in the way.
Scott is a pretty decent chef - heβs not going to be working in a Michelin star restaurant any time soon but he can make a mean grilled cheese. Heβs had a lot of practice, cooking for him and his brother while their mother worked a night shift at the hospital.
One of his most prized possessions is his red pick up truck. Itβs aging a little but Scott likes to take good care of it - itβs done him well. It carried his possessions back and forth from uni, carried his friends back and forth from parties and it holds a lot of tools. Yβknow, for whatever situation you need tools for.
