Tokyo 2020 Dressage Stars . Something a little bit different. Some very quick scribbles with a splash of colour, of the equine stars of the Olympics. Took some screenshots from the routines and drew from them as reference. Wow! It’s really something else watching the best of the best! All the horses looked like they were dancing. Makes me want to go riding again. Also, it’s so frustrating when these quick scribbles have SO much more character than my ‘finished’ pieces 😓

Also costs $0 to shut up about Dujardin wearing a helmet for the jog.

She was there when a groom got kicked in the head (lived, just a gash) in Rio and clearly that had an impact on her.

Shit should probably mean we all should have helmets on at jogs/medal ceremonies in these types of events just as a safety measure.

Doesn't mean she's afraid of her horse or that these horses are horribly trained on the ground. It's a high stress, unfamiliar environment. Accidents happen even with the quietest of horses.

I really don’t understand why she would be called out for wearing a helmet around horses in any situation?? Have horse people forgot how dangerous their animals are capable of being?

The Olympics is a unique experience, because once every 4 years I watch sports I don’t understand and that I’ll never watch otherwise just because it’s the Olympics.

5. What kind of bit do you use and why?

I use a Bombers Loose Ring Happy Tongue. I use it because it’s the bit he’s most noticeably happier in, and also because it suits his palate well.

6. Stock horse or sport horse?

This is tough! I have a soft spot for Australian Stock Horses. However, I think I’m going to have to choose sport horses. I’m ride English so I feel I’ve been conditioned to admire warmbloods and athletic horses. Plus, I really love thoroughbreds - they’re my favourite. In saying that, I still really love both.

8. Least favourite horse colour?

Probably grey. I think they’re beautiful, don’t get me wrong. But both of the grey horses I’ve owned have ended up getting a fatal melanoma so I’ve been scared off of them/ the only time I’d ever discriminate against colour if looking for a new horse would be grey.

52. What is your equestrian dream?

Realistically, just to be a good horseperson. I don’t really have any overly ambitious goals otherwise lol.

Although, if I were just dreaming, I’d like to live in a castle in the countryside that has a beautiful stable block and I’d hack around my vast acreage daily and not have a care in the world... I think I misinterpreted the question haha
