It is not necessary, they remain long, but we had family in Lima, we stayed with for most of the trip. We have a week in the Andes. That was not how I wanted to spend my holidays. After we got advice from the family we have learned to spend the night in hotels on the road every night. This made a big difference and we see a lot more. The first day we flew from Lima to Cusco. The flight was incredible. You felt like you just inches above the mountains were. The landing was different, because you felt the aircraft rarely falls. I recommend flying early in the morning so that you can watch the sunrise. We arrive in Cusco in the early morning hours. A car took us to a travel agency that was for our trip. They saw all our luggage and suggested that we do not take everything. We insisted that we needed anything. This was not a good idea. They spend much time on trains, buses and cars. There was concern too much. I suggest one bag per person. I saw many people with only an oversized backpack. Take as little as possible with you. The nightlife is great. If you are just for one day, you are too tired to really enjoy it. I recommend to leave Cusco Lake Titicaca to go. It is a nine-hour bus ride there. There was no bathroom on the bus. Make sure if you have a decent working conditions that bathroom to see you use it. They are not quite so great. More on this at the end. There are hotels overlooking the water and it is absolutely beautiful. be warned, it is very, very cold. Take a tour of the lake during the day. Make sure you visit some of the islands.
