What made you decide that this was the career path for you, what made you choose to be an apprentice, to learn a skill? Jon - I was studying for my postgrad at the time I came across the apprenticeship & immediately recognised it was a truly unique opportunity. After completing my degree in Design Engineering I’d been keen to gain some worldly experience outside of academia and globe making seemed to encapsulate so many of the principles I believed in. That balance of art and science - the absolute precision needed to chart the earth with the highest accuracy whilst creating an object of refined beauty - both are crucial to the success of each other.
