first all of all. i can't find an interview where they speak about this song. i need to hear their pov also i love bill explaining why they do stuff like yes keep going

second of all. im reading the translation from the german version and i feel like the lyrics are slightly different but it gets to a point the song just feels so different in german than in english imo like i guess the overall story is the same but idk you're changing a lot of details here

i can see the christaine f comparison by the end of the song, she's clearly using something to numb the pain. HOWEVER, i believe this thing she's doing/using is left up to interpretation and in MY interpretation this song sounds more like self harm than drug use. this is the only time in the song it actually feels like it could be talking about drugs. nice highlight for this one: i found a christiane f edit for this song and i thought that was pretty cool because literally the reason i made my edit was because i couldnt believe nobody had made a tokio hotel x christiane f edit. even though we thought of two completely different songs lol (edit added this later: i dont know why they chose such a vague translation for the english version "she longs for more and more" is very... ambiguous compared to "after every last time she needs it again, again")

although the final line is also different, the message is the same: "her last dream remains undreamed" vs "her last wish, stays unsaid". i dont see how either of these could be interpreted as anything but the girl dying in the end.

in the end, the more i read the lyrics the more i think of lylia 4 ever. i think it fits her the most.

this line is different in the german version (Do you want to see yourself fly in the dark's light?) BUT in the english version he sings "do you wanna see yourself flying through the night?" which i guess is actually the same but more poetic. anyways. lylia 4 ever has constant symbolism about flying and angels, the characters are seen with wings in some parts of the movie.

now here's an important line that's different and confuses me PERSONALLY. german: "Her first stitch in luck" vs english "her first time on the edge". ok maybe im reading too deep into everything but these to me mean two different things. ok so english isnt my first language so here is where im going like "well maybe ive got my english wrong lol" so i go looking for the spanish translation. it's basically identical to the english translation. there's this problem though, i don't know what the fuck "her first stitch in luck" means REALLY, like i can just use context clues but i could not use that in a sentence. so what does the spanish version say? "Su primera puntada en la felicidad" bitch. that doesn't mean anything to me either, in fact, i understand that less than the english translation.

whatever im getting too caught up in this line. i guess this means it's her first time, she's new to the world. could mean christiane's first experience with drugs, lylia first experiencing the streets and being all alone, or like i said earlier, this just gives me heavy self harm undertones.... and no it's not because this line is followed by "the scars will stay forever". for example: "But after the last time, she didn't cry anymore" okay and here im getting into scary territory but this is actually how self harming actually works, you do eventually stop crying. i think this makes more sense in this context than the context of drugs (im using the term sh incorrectly this whole time sorry, i do specifically mean cutting it's just i prefer the term sh because it sounds "softer", personal choice. i think the problem is that drug abuse is also a form of self harm so you could make the argument it's the same thing anyways. HOWEVER...... the idea that she starts out crying and eventually stops does hint to a form of self harm other than drugs imo)

another possible approach to me was an eating disorder. which is another form of self harm so i really dont have to explain that all over again. this is where i thought of cassie from wintergirls, who ends up dying due to her bulimia. however there is no movie for this so no chances for an edit and also the book mostly focuses on lia's story and pov, cassie's story is very base level compared to lia's, so i dont think there's even enough material and lia would be a more interesting character choice, but the whole point of the end is that lia chooses life. so she doesnt fit the song lol. but it made me think this song would be very good in general for a wintergirls movie lol but again, i think that could do irreparable damage to mentally ill girls everywhere lol but yeah i found this ed relation very interesting for this song
