From My Point of View

Cheer Express Junior Blue won first place today and just like her coaches, I am so proud of Kianna and her team. As exhausting as today was, I am happy to be my daughter’s number one supporter. I can only wonder how the girls pull off such a wonderful routine every time but it’s something I won’t ever get tired of watching. 

Competition days are always the longest but they’re also the most fun. I made sure Kianna’s uniform was washed and ready to go. From hair to makeup to watching her team compete, it’s always a day that’s sure to be hectic but very exciting as well. I know how hard the girls have been working so I really hope they do well today!

I love watching my daughter be able to do what she loves. Competitive cheer has given her so much and is something that she has become so passionate about. Even though the practices are time consuming, it’s so nice to watch her cheer. Some of her best friends have come from cheer and having other cheer moms around is always nice. All I want is to make sure my little girl is happy and able to continue to do what she loves. These girls never fail to amaze me! 

Competition days mean 8 to 10 hours of anything and everything cheerleading. It was a long day at the convention center but it was all worth it because my team got first place. It was only our 2nd competition this season but all the hard work has clearly been paying off and there is no better feeling. I’m really proud of what my team has accomplished so far and no one can take that away from us. 2 more weeks of practice until we’re off to our next competition to do what we all love most. 

Yeah. I’ve heard it a million times before. There’s no point in even trying to defend myself. People are always going to have something to say. But, I know that cheer is something I’m extremely passionate about so all I can do is ignore it. I’m super excited for my next competition that’s coming up this weekend. I have 2 of my best friends who support me at every competition, my mom and my dad, and that’s all that really matters to me. I just know that I plan on leaving all I have out on the mat this weekend.

Just a word of advice, rushing your daughter doesn’t help. It just makes for unneeded arguments. When I finally figured out what I was wearing, she had just brushed her teeth. I was glad to know she didn’t want to have bad breath but I was reminded that we needed more toothpaste. It’s my day off and I’m still going to have to run errands. I guess laziness wasn’t in the agenda for that day. When we finally arrived at the gymnasium, I was relieved to find out we weren’t the last ones to get there. Threatening her that she’s gonna be late to her game must of worked am I right? Since she was quiet the whole car ride, I wondered if she was nervous that morning. She does well at practice and besides, this type of commitment is good for her. She should of been excited. Despite all the early morning stress, I was more than happy to take a day off of work and support my little basketball star! She’s got this!

I never wanted an omelet more than I did that morning, but pancakes it is. I was relieved to find that we weren’t out of syrup. She needs to keep better track of her things, I’m surely not her maid. Asking me where she left her shoes only proves just how irresponsible KC is, but sometimes I have to remind myself that she’s only eleven. She’s just lucky our puppy didn’t chew them up that night. Anyways, when she was approaching the table with a smile on her face and all dressed and ready to go, I knew I made the right decision regarding breakfast. Only after all of this was it was my turn to get ready. 

Patience is a very complicated thing. Especially when you have to repeatedly wake your daughter up for her basketball game on a beautiful Saturday morning. This is why bed times were invented. I don’t enjoy waking up early anymore than she does, let me tell you. But everyone has to make sacrifices and hopefully one day she’ll understand. I’m not a morning person either but thank goodness for coffee. But maybe she gets that from me? Well one thing I know that cheers her up or gets her going is her favorite breakfast. So I decided to cook her some chocolate chip pancakes, hoping that would motivate her to get a move on. Lord knows how lazy she was and time was not on our side.

I have to say, no one likes being rushed. My mom apparently forgot this well known fact on that Saturday morning. She was acting as if I was going to be the last one getting there geez. At that point all my self doubt started to hit me. “What if the other team is better than us?” “ What if I mess up when my team needs me the most?” Nervous was an understatement but it was too late to turn back. At least I was right about the yellow jerseys that morning. I wasn’t the last player to arrive either, so my mom could relax about that. With twenty minutes to warm up, I started to feel a bit more excited. With my mom watching in the crowd, I knew I could do it.
