No because Fern and Cliff never get to live their lives together, but their love is the reason there's kitchen parties and family dinners and music for the hundred years to come. Colton never gets to see Jacob come home but he's the reason why he can and why Alice sings, bringing Kat and Del back together and for Kat and Elliot to fall in love and for them all to rediscover these pieces of the past that were lost and gain more love than they could ever imagine in return.

I am once again saying Fern and Colton are so alike because they will both see an unsuspecting individual they have feelings for and go: "Is anyone going to serenade them?" and not wait for an answer.
