Potential Scammer
I did not want to write this, but things just read more and more as a scam. This isn't to SAY they are scamming, but just to give a warning to be careful with your money. The user in question has a habit of begging on their blog for money every month. However when I brought it up with friends, they noticed on their main, that they were spending their money on other things.
This is to show evidence of my suspicions, and let people draw their own conclusion. Don't harass the user at all or send any anons or any messages. This post is to allow people to notice the things they are doing, while they proceed to beg for money.
The user in question is @/meowdistract @/hauntedreality.
I had noticed that they would be reblogged on my dash a lot, asking for money for food, vitamins, for bills, etc. However, it's been happening for a long time. I had also noticed, that once a month went by, the new month would start, and they would delete all their prior begging and start a new one.
Past beggings I screenshotted. This was only rather recent, because I had clicked in my head, something seemed off...
And here is the most recent begging that happened 7/9/26
The biggest thing that tipped me off, is they NEVER follow up on what happened to the bills or never follow up on anything. There's no 'oh thanks for the food!' No receipts or anything. And they still survive this long off of what they have. While I don't have screen shots of it, they sometimes throw in pictures of their cat, which we all love cats. But it feels like it's a way to pull sympathy to urge people to pay them.
Now I had this all in my mind, and I spoke up to my friends how suspicious they seemed, and my friends agreed too, and kept an eye on them. It was this month now that we were keeping watch, they were starting to use their money.... for luxuries over necessities. I only have two screen shots, but I was pointed out that they had bought a blind box as well, but they had deleted their post before I could cap it.
Here is them showing off a commissioned piece. When going to the artist, this is their vgen
Bear in mind this is a TWO character piece, and at half body. So it's probably around 50-60$. Which could have gone towards food.
Here is them buying headphones. They say they have a speaker but they wanted to get headphones.
They deleted it, but they had also got a +20$ or so blind box.
Now I was getting REALLY suspicious, and honestly, I didn't know if they're just REALLY bad with money, or if they were scamming. I went on anon to see if they would confirm they were m//eowdistract, which they did
They confirmed. I went and sent a rather concerned anon, pointing out their spending habits. This is partial of what I sent, but the main of it.
I added a bit more saying 'I'm just concerned is all. :( and signed it a concerned anon.' Cuz that kind of life style is... bad. You shouldn't sacrifice your needs and buy luxuries in life first, and then rely on hand outs for food and things you need. But seeing them purchase around.. I am guessing +100$ worth of stuff... that could have paid for a week or so of food. And that is the stuff they are mentioning on their blog and this is only the second week of July.
Well I had sent my anon, and they never answered it. But what raised my brow more, was they deleted my ask about m//eowdistract as proven here
They ALSO turned off anon
And proceeded to delete ALL evidence of their begging on the commission blog
This is simply pointing out the suspicious behavior and to be weary. It doesn't mean they are 100% scamming in reality, but to me, it's all VERY sus... Do not harass them in any way shape or form. Just be weary of what you reblog of what could be promoting a scam, and who you are sending your money to. You can do anything you want, but once again, this is all pointing out very odd behavior.
And to Laurie, this isn't bullying or some sort of smear campaign. People are allowed to ask questions and raise concern when it seems that money is going elsewhere. You could have explained in my anon that you were bad with money, which is okay, sometimes it's hard to budget. But instead it's very odd you deleted everything instead and refused to answer.
