But let’s remember: Kate never actively ran from Sawyer. Never. 

In the cages on Hydra Island, Kate was getting out of her cage all the time. Even if she didn’t know that she wouldn’t get far, she always CHOSE to stay with Sawyer. She chose to remain as a prisoner. She chose to stay, because staying was the only way she was going to keep the man she loved alive. 

Even during “Eggtown”, when Sawyer & Kate were fighting before she left, she wasn’t really running from him. She was running from their tempers. She’d already hit him, and she didn’t want to do anything else that she’d regret. 

And, I’d also like to point out that the Season 3B & Season 4A writing was shit for Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Juliet, because so much of it was done in a way that was deliberately pushing the tension of the love quadrangle, at the sacrifice of who these characters really were. 

Because she has such a strong moral code, she feels the need to go back for Jack. While some people think that it’s because of her love for Jack, and it’s great for those who ship them, I think that it’s just because she cares. She was forced to leave Jack, but when given the choice to leave Sawyer, she couldn’t. And she feels she has to make that up to Jack, so she goes back for him.
