flynn knows mason means what he's saying, but he doesn't agree with the notion. the man in front of him is stronger than he deems himself- determined and amazing. there have been many days that he's found himself wanting to shake him awake from this belief that flynn is anything but bad for him. . . but perhaps he's been too selfish of a man to do that until now. love has become such a foreign concept that its now hard to digest. it's like rot in his hands. it will turn to filth one day, and he cannot bare the thought of watching its slow decay. not when it will hurt the man he loves. his greed needs to know bounds, and this must be it.

it's like a dream. being here with him again after so long. it feels like what he'd presume floating on a cloud is like. so lovely, yet unsteady. calloused palms hold mason's cheeks with a tenderness he wasn't aware he possessed, thumbs swiping along cheekbones as though memorizing his entire face. he feels out of breath just from this interaction alone. he can recall many a night when sleep actually came to him, seeing this exact face within his dreams, it's comforting knowing he wasn't alone in this desire. leaning forward, their noses bump, a gentle affection he felt he may never be able to claim again. if he could lay the groundworks of his home within the interior of a person, the innards of the other man's heart would be all his.

the patter of rain echo's through the creaking floorboards, the thunderous beating of his heart almost able to be tuned out as a result. his back is flat against the door, knees pulled up to his chest, fighting a bout of exhaustion and anger that merely rises as finley's voice breaks through the rest of the noise, and past the closed door. he's stubborn. almost too stubborn. it's both admirable, and frustrating. him being headstrong is a reason flynn loves him- which that in itself is a horrifying thing to reason with. love and what comes as a result. care, and the need to protect. flynn thinks that's what finley is doing right now. a refusal to leave him behind, putting his heart in his palm and feeding it to flynn underneath the doorway. should he bite his hand, or nurture what's being given?
