it makes her pause. she knows the way he feels about her but anytime there's acknowledgment on his end it leaves her breathless. even with her constant baiting for him to just do something about it. she doesn't say or do anything for a moment because she feels like if she moves it will run him off and they'll be right back where they started. so she stays completely still where she is. but she's always had more trouble controlling her mouth. " then why don't you do something about it, elijah ? "

simon takes a long , deep breath . breathes out . releases his frustrations . releases his anxiety . this is no time to be panicking -- not with marigold stuck in here with him . ( still , it's hard not to dislike these closed - in walls . it's hard not to remember when such a place was his entire life ; when such a place was to be his death . )

he's almost impressed that marigold even noticed . his poker face is impeccable , if he does say so himself , and he had only taken his hands out of his pockets for a short moment to try the elevator buttons . apparently that was all she needed to catch on to his discomfort . it's impressive , really . ( it's a bit frustrating . )

he doesn't know what to do beyond insist that he's alright , though .
