K A T E raised an eyebrow at the other. right, he didn’t even read the sign that was posted out front. that didn’t bode well. what if the sign had read closed? or that there was some kind of outage? at least he could acknowledge that he should have read it. but what worried her more was the body language. the question. there were people who were questioning, who might come in because they wanted to learn and explore themselves. and then there were people who just couldn’t read a sign. or the signs around town. or the ad in the newspaper.
╷╷╷ she let out a silent sigh before speaking. ❝well if you were to say no, i would ask you to leave. right now, this place is a safe space for people who are a part of the lgbt community, so they can meet others like them, talk about issues they’ve had, or just explore their gender and sexuality more. and seeing as it’s only two hours a week, and i own the establishment - well, i’m going to ask everyone who’s not a part of that community to not intrude on that. again, for just two hours a week. every other hour that we’re open is free game.❞
╷╷╷she crossed her arms, raising one of her eyebrows. she wouldn’t force people out if she had to, but there was no way that she was going to let anyone possible threaten the safety of the people she was trying to help - of her people.

‘ i see . . . ’ jerome mutters slowly before looking off to the side in deliberation . he takes a moment to consider his options , mentally running through the few that he has available in this scenario . it’s clear to him that the woman is very serious about this event , which he can respect . being that she claims to own the place , he also knows that he would have to get through to her if he wants to stay . the thing is though , the other’s words were compelling enough to make him feel bad for wanting to weasel his way into the event , slightly at least . he might no longer want to stay , but he still wants a bite of those nachos .
‘ well , i guess that’s that , ’ he says , almost as though he were immediately giving up . however , he’s not entirely done yet . ‘ though i am starving . ’ he dramatically places his hand against his stomach , exaggerating & bringing emphasis to his current hunger . blue eyes quickly glance over to the chips & back . ‘ you’re not really going to send a starving man back to the streets empty-handed , are you ? ’ in retrospect , part of him may wish that he would know when to quit , but things would never be quite as fun if that were the case . ‘ can i just have one -- no two , teensy handfuls of those nachos ? then i’ll be out of your hair . i promise . ’
