if it involves mystics , really , she’d rather stay far away . but here she is , tailing behind zatanna on an impromptu investigation into the troublesome side of the arcane . rao , does she wish someone else volunteered .

❝ i’m gonna be super upfront . i have no idea how i’m gonna be able to help you , zan . i feel like an infant stumbling around in the dark here . i mean , can i even punch a demon  ?  does that work on them  ? ❞ 

❝ i can’t believe you still have cable . isn’t that kind of archaic now  ?  are you trying to embrace your inner old man  ? ❞     kara sets the remote down beside her on the couch , settled on something about home makeovers . not quite sure why she likes the shows so much         maybe the whole thing about being made anew calls to her . whatever . she likes them .     ❝ seeing you out of the whole ‘hero costume’ is always super weird . i mean         to me , it just looks like clothes back home and seeing you in human clothes is the alien wear . i think i caught on to your love of flannel though . and the glasses make me look cute . ❞

kara is comfortable here  ;  at home  .  she doesn’t allow kal enough time to protest anyway  ...  it’s been weeks . and it’s not like he’s doing anything important now . well         nothing that she deems as important . they hardly ever agree on that aspect .

sound explodes behind her as she increases her speed , the telltale reminder of the power she now wields on earth . and it isn't long before she's within several miles of the world below , idly hovering and enjoying the view as the sun sets and the city calms . it's a peace she is only beginning to understand but it feels  ...  natural . comforting .

but it isn't much longer before her introspective stillness is interrupted . however , the interruption doesn't bring her annoyance         kara welcomes the company with a smile , turning to the source and moving slightly , as if to make way in the sky , allowing room for the other though there is plenty of space .

❝ well , well , well         look what the cat         uh , flerken  ?         dragged in . come all the way out to see lil ole me  ? ❞

was his survival ever in doubt ? absolutely not         never to kara . the pillar of strength and hope that she only could ever aspire to be would never fall in her eyes . she casts him a look , incredulous , accompanied with an acrimonious scoff . kara sits beside him , purposefully bumping him with her shoulder on the way down . legs dangle over the side of the building , swinging as she peers over the side to observe the people below , cape mingling in a pile of fabric alongside kal’s . words have never come easily to her         feelings , sure         but verbalizing them is always a challenge . for a moment , kara entertains the silence as kal patiently awaits an answer . silence only broken with another arrant huff .

❝ cause you’re you . duh . ❞     as if the answer should already be obvious . kara , again , nudges his shoulder , bringing his attention back to her         though she’s sure it was never really anywhere else .     ❝ you always pull through , somehow . and even if you didn’t , i’d be there to pull you out . you’ve got me now . what are big cousins for ? ❞
