âWas that a rat with an entire slice of pizza? This city continues to amaze me.â
hridhammarâ:
ââIf I see those demon cat people one more time, I will hurt something.â
âIf you need any calming techniques, Iâve got a bunch of them. Picked âem up from my cousin.â
strongestavengerbruceâ:
Bruce smiled apologetically, raising a shoulder in a half-shrug. âMaybe.â He admitted. âBut maybe I know you better than mostâŚâ His smile grew as he felt himself beginning to relax in Jennâs company. Even when he was so far out of his comfort zone, his cousin was a calming presence. âYou donât have to apologise.â He assured her, his smile fading to be replaced by open concern. âFeels off⌠how?â He asked carefully, knowing her words could mean a thousand potentially problematic things. âYou know⌠if you arenât enjoying yourself, I donât think anybody would be offended if we disappeared for an hour? Sometimes you just need a little time.âÂ
âWe were never really good at hiding our hurt from each other,â Jennifer conceded as she took another sip of her drink, scanning the room before she turned her eyes back to her cousin. She hoped the sadness wasnât too evident to everyone else- the last thing she wanted to do was bring down the mood, at a Tony Stark party no less.
âI donât want to totally bail, but... maybe itâd be nice to get some air. Iâm sure thereâs a balcony or twenty overlooking the city.â Jenn tilted her head and gestured for Bruce to walk with her. âIt just... Well, last yearâs party was so much fun. It felt special. My first one in town, and... that was the night Clint gave me my Avenger ID card. It feels wrong to be celebrating without him this year.â
She sighed, running her finger around the rim of her glass as she leaned her elbows against the railing of the balcony. âYou know, I think I just realized why Jessica Jones made a scene last year and stormed out,â Jenn smiled to herself. âBut even sheâs got a beautiful daughter and sheâs so happy with Luke... I donât know. I think I just really miss Clint.â
princessxwakandaâ:
âGlad to know Iâve got official legal backing for my actionsâŚtechnically this isnât what diplomatic immunity is for, but what TâChalla doesnât know wonât hurt him.âÂ
âWell, I wouldnât say âofficial legal backingâ... Youâve just got a valid excuse,â Jenn shrugged. âSo, are you enjoying yourself tonight, your highness?â

Bruce was tired. Tired of making awkward small talk with people who didnât know who he was, tired of making small talk with people who did know who he was, and tired of pretending to enjoy making small talk. He had long since reached his two drink limit and was feeling more anxious as time passed and he had nothing to do with his hands, nothing to occupy himself with. He didnât want to drink anything further, knowing he would fall into a habit of drinking it slowly and potentially triggering a placebo effect. He was very likely being paranoid, and that was very likely due to the alcohol he had already consumed, but it couldnât be helped. It was only as he made his way back to the bar, his favourite place to avoid conversation, that he noticed Jen. He hadnât had the chance to speak to her tonight, she always seemed to be in the company of somebody he wouldnât want to interrupt. But now she was alone. Alone and⌠almost seeming to be upset. A frown creased his brow as he ordered a drink, making his way over to where she was standing the moment the bartender handed it to him. He approached her slowly, wanting to make sure she wasnât also attempting to avoid attention, offering her the glass with a hesitant smile. âJen.â He said, by way of greeting. âIâm sorry, you⌠looked a little lonely.â @savageshehulkâ
In some ways, it was nice not to be responsible for the superhero holiday party this year. It did win her some good will with the local community, and they made a good amount of new contacts at the firm, but... Jenniferâs heart wasnât in it this year. Hell, she hadnât even shown up to Starkâs party green in an effort to hide a little bit better among the crowds.
She couldnât stop thinking about how well last yearâs party had gone, and now things were much different than back then. Less innocent. And most of all, she missed Clint. Jenn flicked her Avengers ID card back and forth between her fingers, watching the holographic lenticular text shift between her civilian identity and code name. She stood in the corner, having had a few rounds of âletâs peel off the wall and make small talkâ but as the night wore on, there were fewer people she wanted to check in with.
Chalk it up to seasonal depression and grief, but she was feeling a little more blue than green this year.
She saw the drink he offered before she noticed Bruce, blushing a bit and putting a hand to her cheek before taking the glass. âOh, god. Is it that obvious? Sorry, Iâm not trying to be. Iâm usually so into parties, but this one feels off.â Jenn took a demure sip of the drink, not entirely sure of its contents- but if it came from Starkâs provisions, it was going to be good and strong.
princessxwakandaâ:
âYes, that is my drink. Your laws are stupid, so Iâve decided to ignore them.â
âWeâre in a private residence, and Iâm not doing any lawyering tonight so I have no choice but to respect your rebellion.â
strongestavengerbruceâ:
When the doors to the elevator opened, Bruce nearly knocked over his mug of tea. He had been prepared for Jennifer, not this version of her, the version he was ultimately responsible for. He had saved her life, both of them knew that. But he had also permanently altered her genes, the very same way his father had altered his. She had assured him on many occasions that she was comfortable with the changes, and despite believing her, that didnât make it any easier for him to see. âJen-â He broke off, righting himself and catching his mug, green tea slipping over the sides to pool on the countertop. He laughed breathlessly, still staring as she stepped into the room. âI- yes, of course. I always have time for you.â He brushed himself off, clearing his throat, struggling to tone down his surprise. âItâs- itâs okay. Iâm okay. Youâre okay. I mean- is everything okay?â He asked, the question falling from his lips as he stumbled over his words. As much as he enjoyed the thought of his cousin visiting him for the sake of visiting him, it was always possible there was a reason and always possible that reason was not a good one. âThe city isnât on fire, is it?â
âOop, watch the m-â she stammered as Bruce stumbled and caught his mug. Jenn pulled a face, slightly apologetic. âSorry, didnât meant to surprise you like that.â
Jennifer knew how Bruce did with surprises. But shouldnât he be used to this by now? She had been in town over a year now- amazing how time flew. She stepped into the room properly and removed her suit jacket, folding it over a chair.
Jenn chuckled, âYes, everything is okay. No, the city isnât on fire. At least, not last I checked.â She shook her head at his concern. It was sweet, and such a strange contrast to his green persona. She didnât come over to visit the Hulk often, that was for sure. But it wasnât fair of her to think like that- the Hulk was the reason she was standing here today, green or not.
Well, Bruce was the reason. But the Hulk had played a role in it too.
âI hope Iâm not interrupting you or anything, I just thought Iâd drop by and spend some time with my favorite cousin. Just a quiet day? What kind of tea is that?â
strongestavengerbruceâ:
Bruce stared at the kettle as it boiled, letting the white noise drown out his thoughts, if only for a moment. He had intentionally chosen one of the fewer frequented kitchens, attempting to avoid anybody who might be residing in the tower. Sometimes he genuinely enjoyed the company, and he wasnât feeling particularly anti-social right now, just a little distracted. He was longing for somewhere quiet. He pulled a chrome mug from the cupboard above him, along with a box of green tea. As he began to pour the water FRIDAYâs voice rang out. He used to jump each time he heard it, but now he didnât need to check his heart monitor to know he was used to the sudden sound of her voice. âDr. Banner, a visitor is on their way to your floor.â He glanced towards the elevator, wondering who might possibly be coming to see him. Surely not Tony, today was one of Pepperâs days off. And everybody else he could think of who might actively seek out his company was away on business. He could feel a frown creasing his brow, but picked up his mug, making his way over to the kitchen island where he placed it down beside the book he had been reading. âUh- thank you, FRIDAY.â He said quietly, closing the book and watching the light above the elevator signal itâs steady ascent. When it finally reached his floor, he couldnât help but feel a strange sense of worry. Hopefully nothing terrible had happened while he had been hiding away in the lab. Though it wouldnât be the first time, of course. @savageshehulkâ
Cousins didnât need a specific, world-ending reason to visit with one another, right?
Jennifer hadnât spent much time in the tower since moving out to New York- for one, she wasnât even part of the team until recently. But then there was the issue of her routine- Jenn had a habit of getting extremely comfortable doing the same things over and over. Especially in a place like New York, there was almost too much to do. She needed the assurance of consistency.
Still, Jennifer loved Bruce. Growing up, heâd always been her favorite cousin. They protected one another. But how often did they get to visit when there was no pressure? No need to protect one another? Just something casual.
As if the Hulk cousins ever did casual.
FRIDAY announced the arrival of the elevator to Bruceâs floor- Jennifer hadnât even considered having the AI tell her cousin that it was her in the lift. She figured that wouldnât give Bruce the chance to come up with an excuse as to why they couldnât visit today. Though the elevator, and really the whole tower, was built to accommodate the Avengers themselves, it still felt a bit unprepared for the arrival of a more delicate breed of Hulk. No matter how tall or strong. At least it supported her weight.
âHey, cuz,â Jennifer smiled, stepping out of the elevator in her full green persona, searching the room for Bruce no doubt buried in a book or something. âI came over straight from work, so I didnât really have time to change. Hope thatâs alright. You have time for a visit?â
fightlikehellcatâ:
âItâs a cool costume. You look great.â It makes Trish wish she could have dressed up for Halloween. Sheâs never gotten too excited about the holiday, but she had dressed up before and enjoyed it. This year was just different than the others. Her mind was somewhere else constantly.
Except now. Right now, all it was on was Jenn.
âThanks, Iâve been trying.â Yet it doesnât seem like itâs enough. âI guess itâs been taking up a lot of my time.â She smiled sheepishly at Jenn, still feeling guilty for not having tried to make more of an effort to keep in touch. âWe should go get coffee sometime. If youâre not to busy with Avenger duty.â She teased, hoping Jenn had been kept busy too, whether through lawyer work or superhero work.
âAw, thanks. I try to put some effort into these things since I feel like the green is a good head start,â she shrugged. Wouldnât it be a change of pace if Jenn went in a normal, not-green getup some year...
âWell, itâs good to work hard at something but I hope youâre giving yourself time to rest,â she nodded. âAvenger work is keeping me on my toes, but so is legal work. The two seem to go hand-in-hand. More villains to fight, more superhero lawsuits to process.â
Jenn smiled down at Trish, putting a hand on her friendâs shoulder. âWe should totally grab coffee. Catch up. If you ever want to work out together again, let me know, but it seems like youâve been doing a great job already.â

âOhâthank you.â She ducked her head, reddening slightly. She hadnât really considered it anything impressive. Just needed something that could loosely fit the theme without looking too out of place. Looking back up at Jenn, she gestured to her own outfit. âI love the costume. Itâs really cool.â She reached up to touch one of the neck bolts, laughing gently at it. Of course Jenn would be Frankenstein. It was an awesome sight to behold nonetheless.
âIâve been really busy.â She said, hopefully explaining why any contact between them had been short. âI was really hoping Iâd run into you here.â Between Jenn and Jessica⌠there was hardly anyone else sheâd be looking forward to see. Jessica had been busy with mom duties now and she loved Jessica but there was also some apprehension that Jessica wouldnât approve. Needless to say, Trish had been alienating herself from everyone and it was a huge relief to just see someone she knows. âIâve missed you.â
Jennifer laughed and tilted her neck closer to Trish so she could feel the bolt. âThank you. I suggested this to Bruce one year, but he didnât find it as amusing. Green guy doesnât like to dress up as much,â she shrugged, actually grateful she got herself under enough control to appear at the party like this. Shulkie had been surprisingly volatile lately. Better keep her from the mead. âIt always feels a bit like cheating, using my green skin. But if youâve got it, flaunt it!â
Jenn nodded as Trish spoke. âI missed you too, and donât worry- life gets busy! I hope youâre handling it well. If you need any help... Or you want to get back to the gym together, just let me know,â she smiled. She reached out and touched Trishâs shoulder. âIâd say youâve been working out a bit without me. Looking good, girl.â
fightlikehellcatâ:
@savageshehulkâ
The relief that washed over Trish when she realized that Frankenstein was Jenn was parallel to the relief she felt when Jessica would show some sign of still being alive after a long period of silence. âJenn,â she called out, reaching out for her. âHey.â She put on one of the most genuine smiles sheâs had all this week. âHowâve you been?â
âTrish! I didnât know youâd be here,â Jennifer smiled, facing the other woman as she reached out. The blonde woman was dressed in impeccably goth fashion. âI love the look. Very spooky, very appropriate.â
She scratched at the back of her neck, careful to avoid the neck bolts sheâd affixed with costume glue for effect. It really was easy just to plan costumes around the green- was that cheating?
âIâve been pretty good. Pretty good,â she nodded, not wanting to bring up the Clint business. Apart from that... and that was an ongoing process... Jennifer really was doing well. Managing to get herself back under control. Only a few incidents here and there. âThanks for asking. How have you been? Itâs been a while since our last workout.â

There was something captivating about watching the Jennifer Walters just casually lift up two men and drop them like they were nothing. Almost made her forget that she could more or less do the same, although maybe with a bit more sweat.
( Maybe a lot more sweat )
What she hadnât accounted for, and probably should have, was exactly how much this would captivate her. It was only when the familiar green figure came barreling towards her, yelling, that she began to feel the bullets that had been bouncing off of her this entire time.
âRight-â
Which left her with a choice, as she ducked to kick out the legs of the guy nearest to her.
âAbout that-â
She could either perpetuate the lie about being a regular human being and hope that she somehow didnât notice the bullet holes in her clothes and the severe lack of blood beneath them. Unlike the holes she hoped to create as she grabbed and cocked the same guyâs gun, pressing her foot down on his chest to keep him still.
But seeing as sheâd gone to all the effort to wear a mask, and the effort it would take to try and cover all that up, it just didnât seem worth it. So instead she shot out the knees of some of the goons rushing towards them.
âI should be fine.â
As Jenn dove forward, she noticed that the woman was taking the fire just fine. She knew the look of bullets bouncing off impenetrable skin- hell, she was getting pelted herself just then. Still, the jade giantess wasnât familiar with this young woman- maybe a mutant? Definitely not an active vigilante. Maybe laying low?
Whatever the case, it took her a few moments to adjust to the reality that the woman didnât necessarily need her help.
âI should hope youâd be fine,â she said, flinching slightly as the stranger shot at someoneâs knees. âI take it youâre here to help?â
Jennifer grabbed a damaged parking meter that had been knocked down when a swerving car hit it earlier at the scene. That was probably going to end up as paperwork on her desk in the office tomorrow. Regardless, she took the metal pole and swung it at an approaching thug, catching him squarely in the stomach. He crumpled easily to the asphalt.
âWe should try to clean these guys up and let the police handle the rest, yeah?â
realmorsecodeâ:
âSavvy.. Oh, uhm. A word I wouldnât put on the list of my personal attributes, but I appreciate the gesture.â Bobbi let out a little chuckle, readjusting her glasses. âMe? Probably, I sometimes accidentally let things happen.âÂ
âLogitech.. I know some people are just trying to make a sale or whatever, but I stand by this baby. Got me through a ton of spilled coffee and wine.â moving around the blonde quickly took hold of the box and held it out to the other woman. A polite smile on her lips.
âWow, you sound like you know how to have a party,â Jenn said, grabbing the box to take a look and study its branding. While she did like to indulge in the occasional glass of pinot, she rarely did it while typing. No, it was more for watching baking tutorials on YouTube. Maybe she should ask if these were flour-proof...
âWell, I trust your endorsement. Hoping I wonât need to get another replacement any time soon after this. Thank you,â she said. A pause.
âOh, what was your name again?â Jennifer was going to fill out that little survey they always had on the end of the receipts, give a nice review. It was the least she could do for this womanâs help.
residentshapeshifterâ:
âI know my parents would be, a little bit, if they were around to see it,â he admits. âBut I took the SATs and everything while I was Xavierâs. Those scores will still be good if I decide I want to do college down the line. But I know what I want to do. Iâll be okay. Iâm set.â
âIâm sure your parents are proud of you for following your instincts,â she said. Jennifer understood the pressures, though, of unrealistic expectations from guardian figures. She sighed a bit, putting a hand on Teddyâs shoulder.
âYouâre a smart young man. I have every confidence that youâre making good choices for yourself, even though they might be hard.â

Fools Rush In - Dani & Jenn
captcincmericaâ:
This was such a bad idea. Probably the worst that sheâd had since sheâd arrived. Sheâd literally only had a few blocks to buy the mess of a âcostumeâ that sheâd thrown together, which was less of a costume and more some quick changes of clothes and something to hide her face so she wouldnât be recognized.
By the time she got there, all hell had seemingly already broken loose. The criminals were clearly already distracted by someone else - the NYPD, she assumed -, which was exactly why she immediately leapt to their aid. Running in from where sheâd been hiding let her deck out one of the guys pretty quickly, but what she saw in the middle of them stopped her in her tracks.
And resulted in her ignoring the bullets that were now bouncing off of her.
âShe-Hulk?â
@savageshehulk
Of course the Wrecking Crew hired goons. They were always thinking brawn, rarely brains- though the general organization of this ambush surprised Jennifer somewhat. Sheâd been so distracted lately, maybe it was more obvious than sheâd imagined.
She had a deal with herself- or rather, with Shulkie, who had been seeming like a stranger some days lately. They were going to behave. Only the bad guys get smashed. Just like old times.
It was, of course, good PR to help thwart the villains and let people forget about her unfortunate outburst after finding the news about Clint.
âShe-Hulk?â
âOne and the same,â she said, hefting two men over her shoulders easily as sacks of rice. They struggled as she turned to see who had addressed her. The men kicked and struggled against Jenniferâs grip. She watched as casual gunfire headed in the young womanâs direction.
âSorry, boys. This was fun, but Iâve gotta drop you off here,â she said, dropping the men to the pavement as she rushed forward to try to prevent the bullets from reaching the girl. âShit, get down!â
