The visual novel has been out since 2004. Explain to me how despite 3 routes dedicated to Saber, Rin and Sakura, Lancer is what appears to be the most popular pairing with Shirou, art-wise.  Look, I get attractive dudes being fluffy and smutty is a leading cause for many a pairing, no matter how odd they seem, but there has to be something else.

Out of the entire Fuyuki cast, it’s Cu I see the most and while I know art with Shirou with basically anyone is out there from the visual novel (Minus Luvia, Bazett and Caren because not main girls and not gay),  yet Cu stands out to me. Since canon doesn’t do them any favors aside from the sequel novel and the cooking anime. 

Because Hollow Ataraxia implies Shirou begrudgingly wants to tap that ass: Also, F/GO kinda sorta just straight up says Lancer and "That red bastard” are bound by fate (*badumtish*) to keep running into each other, much to Cu’s horror,, so Cu is ironically the closest thing Shirou has to a soulmate.
