Not often I post plant photos, but thought these epiphytes growing in our local ‘Temperate Rainforest’ (Horner Woods ) were rather beautiful. The ferns are Polypody, the only native tree fern, which once established on a branch accumulates wet humus around its leaf junctions. This enables aggressive bryophytes to establish, forming moss balls as here.Jochen Langbein

At the Royal Horticultural Society Garden Wisley, Surrey, there was a 12m high spiral of Tillandsia harrisii (air plant). This display was part of the Giant Houseplant Takeover in the glasshouse. Air plants are from Mexico and South America, they are tropical epiphytes (growing on tree branches) or lithophytes (growing on rocks).

Air plants! On driftwood, even!
