In transgender and gender‑nonconforming communities, “egg” is slang for someone who is transgender but hasn’t yet realized or accepted it — often described as being “in denial” or “in the closet” about their identity. (Sounds like a lot of people calling themselves sissies here. My two cents)

Literal metaphor: Like an egg, a “trans person” is “hatched” (or “cracked”) when they come into their true gender identity. Until then, they are considered an “egg” — an embryo of the person they will become.

Usage: It can be applied to someone who is questioning their gender, showing signs of transness (e.g., dysphoria, gender‑confused thoughts, or identity exploration), but hasn’t come out yet.

Self‑identification: Some people use “egg” to describe themselves before they’re ready to come out, as a way to feel connected to the trans community without disclosing.

Retrospective use: Often used humorously when looking back and realizing, “I was an egg all along”.
