Sashe Studio: Inspiration

Hi I'm Brenda. It's been awhile since I introduced myself, especially to my new friends & followers. Here are three random things to know about me: 1) I love painting (duh) but I also love & am scared of painting commissions. I love it because when I work with you, we create something that I couldn't paint on my own. I get scared because, there is such intimacy when it's intentionally created for one client. Because there is another person's heart involved, I'm not totally sure what or where some elements of the painting comes from. It always works out in the end so maybe it's just nerves. But that unknown is also what makes it super exciting! 2) I love wearing colour (duh) but it's only been the last few years that I realised it wasn't that easy for everyone. I just never noticed that many people wear neutrals. (I'm not a great observer of fashion) or that they were scared to wear colour. I just assumed that we all love wearing at least a brightly coloured scarf or tights or jacket. (& shoes!) AND that has made me more conscious of pushing my wardrobe and style to include more neutrals besides blue jeans. Asking questions of friends & going shopping together can be so revealing of your own assumptions. 3) I like to push my taste buds and challenge what I 'know' I don't like (hate). This has resulted in my current love of Chai. Soy milk Lattes and more recently Almond milk lattes. Small things but questioning what you 'know' means being open to new experiences even in the face of your own bias. I still dislike eating fish. Sometimes being in the studio means sharing it with someone else. By sharing I mean taken over. (More in my stories!) 💖Part of my painting process is to practice surrender of the bits I like, trusting that something l love will come through. This is (hopefully) an example of that.
