I'm hanging by a moment here with you | Lola & Cesar
Lola was beaming at Cesar as they were talking, taking a few beats more to realized the desk was shaking underneath her than it did for Cesar. Rather than listening to him, the girl immediately jumped up, letting out a high pitched shriek before covering her head as she heard a cracking noise above her. Dust and tiny pieces of concrete fell from above her and the girl lunged forward for him, her heart speeding up, beating as if it was right in her throat and her stomach tightening uncomfortably as she reached to take his hand. "We need to get out of here," the girl squealed, tone more high pitched than usual and clearly not as kept together as he seemed to be.
"No, don't!" Cesar called out to her just as she jumped up but it was too late, she was already in movement. He watched as her hand reached for him and just when he was about to reach for it and lace their fingers together, he heard the cracking of the roof above them and knew it would cave in any second now. "No!" Instinctively, he reached for Lola, his arms wrapping around her small frame and pushing her onto the safety of her bed, as safe as it could be anyway. As he pushed her onto the bed, leaning over the girl and ready to move next to her himself, the roof caved in and a piece of concrete fell directly onto Cesar's lower back, causing him to fall to the ground with a groan. With his cheek pressed against the cold tile floor, he could see Lola on the bed and could hear everything falling around him but he couldn't feel anything, not from the waist down. That's when everything went black.
Lola felt as if everything was happening too fast for her to actually grasp what was happening, not being able to react properly to the situation before strong arms were wrapped around her and threw her on the bed. The girl fell on the mattress with a soft thud, her head lightly hitting the wall behind it not long after. The two seconds that took for her to rub the spot on the back of her head and to open her eyes again were enough for her to miss most of what was happening in front of her, and the only thing that alerted her again was the loud cracking noise over them. Looking at Cesar with wide eyes, the girl lunged forward, attempting to reach for him before he got hit, but she was too late, grasping into empty space as he fell to the floor. "NO! CESAR!" Somewhat losing her balance due to the shocks, Lola held onto the mattress tightly as she fell to the side on the bed, taking a few more seconds to bring herself up again. By the time she actually managed to slide to the floor to get closer to him, it seemed as if things were still again, but the girl's heart was pounding in her chest, hands shaking as she reached for the man lying on the ground - unti she noticed where he got hit. "No no no no, wake up, please wake up. It's going to be fine. You're going to be fine, please, Cesar. Please, please, don't-" Choking out the last few words, the girl reached for his face, wanting to turn him around so he could breathe more easily but knowing she risked further injuring him from it. Shaking her head as tears filled her eyes, she tried to check for his pulse with trembling hands before deciding she was no good at it. Finally managing to stand up, holding onto the furniture so her knees wouldn't give out due to pure distress, Lola reached for her phone, almost droppng it once before she was actually able to call for help, one hand covering her mouth as she attempted to control her breathing, finding it impossible to not think about the worst in this situation.
