Reality:

"I do not have to kill this alien. By the time he fixes his device and builds a ship, it will be too late. He will already be too human to want to kill everyone. And if I killed him, I would be killing the humanity that is growing inside of him. How could I ever take that gift away from someone?"

There is so much beauty to the Resident Alien series finale that I had to watch it again last night. And who knows? I may watch it again before too much time has passed.

In the finale, there are wonderful thoughts expressed by the characters. Dan said,

"Love and kindness are powerful things. I mean, who knows how many aliens landed here before Harry, planning to do bad things, then spared our lives?"

And all through the series, Harry has offered his thoughts on human nature. So it was appropriate that as he flew away, he had some final thoughts.

"Humans think they need love from others to be happy. They do not realize they already have all the love they will ever need inside of them. Maybe the real magic happens when you give that love away."

"Being kind to others is like planting a seed that grows and spreads among them... The love you leave behind will last much longer than you will - which is good because nobody wants to be forgotten."

Show runner Chris Sheridan said,

"I spent a lot of time thinking about what the viewers take away from the season. And I think ideally at the end of the season, people feel better about their lives and more hopeful that not only can they find happiness but they can be part of this change that I think is happening in the world now."
