Of course, the double bed seemed more like a single with David’s size.

That meant that Angel had to practically sleep on top of him that night. Not that they were complaining. Despite all his muscle, he was soft in the perfect areas to be a good pillow. And his heartbeat under their ear soothed them and lulled them to sleep.

For David, it was calming having the weight on him. Like something was grounding him. He would wrap his arms around them a little tighter and they’d respond by nuzzling further into his chest. The warmth of their body on top of him was new - something David never really had the chance to experience. But it felt like it was meant to be - they fit against him perfectly.

The size of the bed was what physically kept them close.

But when they finally moved in and got a king sized bed, that didn’t stop Angel from sleeping cuddled right up to him. And David loved it. A part of him was worried he’d lose that when they sized up - he’d gotten used to having their weight on him to sleep at night. But Angel kept their head on his chest, legs tangling with his, leaving the other half of the bed empty. And David kept them close with his arms around them.
