Here’s a couple of my favorite BG designs I got to do on Powerpuff Girls. In the storyboards, the scene called for a fancy and rare car dealership. Instead of the usual European cars that most people would go for, I went with my love for Japanese automobiles. I was lucky enough that my dad bought a brand new FD RX7, when they first came out in 1993. So I had to throw it in the scene along with my favorite JDM cars.Â
A little late in posting these, but here are some of my favorite backgrounds I got to design for The Powerpuff Girls’ “The Power of Four” special where Bliss gets introduced.Â
I was cleaning up my computer and I found these. From a past project that never got past the development stage. It was fun trying out different styles for the film. These were from a more realistic visual style. It was probably the 3rd version we were trying.Â
I got to design some of my favorite sneakers that I own, and sneak it into a PPG episode!Â

A few layouts I did for a show that I tried testing for, a while back. It was fun to try, even if it proved unsuccessful.Â
It’s been tough trying to keep up with the PPG episodes that have aired and the designs that I can actually post and share, so here’s a few that I know I can definitely post. These are a few of my favorite BGs that I got to design for the “Secret Swapper” and our Halloween episode.Â
Bonus: I was finally able to sneak in a car that I had for years and years.Â
These were some development pieces I did for “Future Worm”, some time in 2014. I was asked to design the main character’s room and the lunchbox/ time machine, and one random area.Â
The final look of the the show turned out drastically different, and personally I think for the better. Either way, it was pretty fun working with the creator, who was super nice, and open to lots of ideas. When we were going over the designs, he mentioned he was taking his son to a Paul McCartney concert that day. Cool dad...
Last March (2015), my art director gave me the assignment to design the new school the Powerpuff Girls were going to attend. I wanted to do an homage to all the elementary and middle schools I had attended back in the day. Now whatever I drew and designed popped out into a toy. Dreams really do come true!
Way back in 2013, Pete Oswald got a hold of me to do help out on some designs for the “Angry Birds” movie. He and I worked on a few projects together in the past, but always remotely or through freelance. “Angry Birds” was the project that got me face to face with Pete. He’s such a good dude and an amazing production designer. I had such a good time working super late nights, after doing the day job on Adventure Time (at the time). Thanks Pete for giving me the opportunity ( if you see this)!

For the past year and some change, I’ve been lucky enough to design for this show. It’s been a dream job, where I literally got to work on a show that made me want to get into animation in the first place.Â
Fun’s over.
I posted this on my instagram as well.Â
WIP...found a little bit of time to doodle this real quick.Â
tbt. This one is from WAY WAY back in 2007 or 2008, when a bunch of my friends and I did a gallery show called LA Myth. This was one of 3 pieces based on anything Los Angeles based. We could just make up myths if we wanted to. I thought of the Santa Ana Winds and imagined that it was a ghost or spirit.Â

My buddies at QPop are having another cool art show. This time it's a Smash Brothers' theme. I decided to do a version of Wiley's Castle since I am a sucker for Mega Man.Â
If any of you are in the area (on Dec 20, Little Tokyo in Los Angeles), stop on by.Â
Q Pop is doing an Akira Toriyama tribute show this weekend in Little Tokyo (Downtown LA). As always, Q Pop has some amazing artists contributing to the show, so if anyone sees this post, please go and visit the shop! This one is my piece for the show.Â
