Alright, so as someone that has abusive parents that have ruined my life that Lusamine makes look like kittensāNO. I mean, I donāt mean to say yāall canāt have that in your stories, but at the same timeā¦ do not put us down that donāt like to see it that way. :shrug:
This was my biggest gripe with USUM in particular. I loved the added Ultra storyline. I HATED that they gave Lusamine a redemption arc. Donāt judge a book by its cover? Well letās take a look at the contentsā¦
- Had to be experimenting with ultra wormholes in the first place to have Mohn get sucked through one. Likely wasnāt being very responsible with it since they seem very private about their research and Alola doesnāt seem to exactly haveā¦ lawsā¦ I mean, Nanuās a police officer, but does that bastard even do his job? lol
- Threw herself into trying to get him back, which is understandable. This is the moral gray area that humanity as a whole tends to bring. Should she have recklessly gone further to try to bring him back? Probably not. Can you blame her for doing so? Also probably not.
- But she seemed to grow resentful toward her kids during this time. Ignored them and scared them through what her research was doing to pokemon as well, with the cruelty that went Type: Nullās way and the complete disregard for Cosmogās life. Grief can do terrible things to a person but when it makes you no longer care for the lives of othersā¦
- Yes, she started being influenced by Nihilego. But she was ALLOWING it to do this, and WANTED it to do this. She was already obsessed with beauty before then. She called Lillie ugly. She bitched at her kids for having fled her and abandoned her. She could not make room to see their side of things at all. The second shit got rough for her, it was all about her, the kids be damned.
- So after all of this, and the kids literally have to flee and have powerful adversaries tracking them down, they justā¦ forgive her??? My parents are mentally abusive to me day in and day out but theyāve never been okay putting me in MORTAL danger. And I STILL hate them and could never forgive them. But youāre telling me Lillie says goodbye to all her friends to try toĀ āfixā her mother in Kanto, just so she can possibly come back still as much of a bitch as before?
- Also, she decided to leave Mohn an amnesiac for himā¦. like she just gets to control his life like thatā¦
My point is, Lusamine may have had some good reasoning for what she did, but a lot of it comes from her own narcissism and vanity. Sheās not Ghetsis-level bad admittedly, but sheās still really bad. If she were to be redeemed, it would take a LOT for that to happen. Itās not justĀ āokayā because sheās their mother. Being related to someone does not automatically make you willing to brush off their bad behavior especially when it includes mortal danger in alternate dimENSIONS.
