consilianĀ·:
so you see, sieunās ownĀ Ā Ā and somewhat negativeĀ Ā Ā experiences with love donāt hinder her when it comes to feeling empathetic to baekhyunās issue. sheās very well aware of the fact that itās difficult to sort through feelings that are usually coming on full force, particularly to a person as receptive to emotions as he appears to be. it makes her feel sympathetic toward his plight with a desire to aid in some sort of wayĀ Ā Ā in her mind, sheās sure thatāll eventually compel baekhyun to promote her to a position of some sort of sidekick (which really, she isnāt all that interested in) but for the time being, sheāll humour the younger.
āwhat if i do?ā she grins, feeling compelled to let the inner child out in an attempt to tease him about the confession he just made. thatās a quality he brings to the table only all too easily and although sieun usually doesnāt find herself contemplating it overly much, itās enough to bring out a better side of her in this moment of time. leaning back in the seat with her arms crossed and a delicate eyebrow raised somewhat appraisingly, itās all too easy to pinpoint where baekhyunās embarrassment stems from.
(lack of experience, nervousness, the overwhelming desire to pleaseĀ Ā Ā she doesnāt really know which one is what makes or breaks it for him but sheās pretty sure they all play a part in having him react in such a boyish manner.)
āyou look like a kicked puppy.ā itās said with a smile thatās not going to cease anytime soon. sieun believes she should not find such entertainment in his problem but itās quite endearing to see his struggle with something so basic and humane. she doesnāt recall facing a similar struggle within the experiences of her own love life, but thenĀ Ā Ā thatās not really up for discussion either. uncrossing her arms, her hands come to rest on the table, nails tapping against the surface in a steady rhythm.
sheās hungry. maybe sheāll order a sandwich just to see what kind of reaction the waitress approaching the table to get her offer will trigger in the younger boy.
eyeing him curiously, she has to hold back broadcasting her idea for fear of watching the life drain from his eyes in the typically dramatic manner heās known for. āso whatās her name?ā
in truth, heās not a great liar. sieun would know, considering how sheās paid to see through lies when told in interviews, would recognize the nervous approach and the oversharing of details fifty feet against the wind. still, the fact that the attempts to regain a little of his dignity is enough for her to keep quiet and let him dwell in the illusion of safety. āwill you introduce her to me? i want to know what she looks like.ā
heās really not getting out of this one.
ah, love, something so foreign for a hero of baekhyun's caliber. except, he wasn't really a hero and judging from the heroes on television, every hero needed their sidekick and the person they're willing to die for. instead, it was foreign because he was truly afraid to hold a conversation with anyone he found marginally attractive, and this waitress, in particular, was just so cute he felt as though his mouth went dry if he even so much as made eye contact with her. luckily for him, he wasn't truly in love, he'd never felt romantic love towards anybody, but it was certainly the worst crush he could remember having. when she took his order and let out her small little giggle, he felt as though he would combust, not that he'd ever admit that to anyone, especially not her.
"well that would make you a villain, and you know how i feel about villains." he laughs a little then, picturing sieun in an all-black get up with a ridiculous high collar and a staff where she'd store her evil, magical powers. now that he thought of it, sieun would make a pretty good villain, if only because she'd be able to keep her cool and strike fear into anyone. he's not sure if she'd enjoy the rendition of her he's crafted in his head, though, so he chooses to keep it to himself for the time being. "plus, most of the people here are regulars... i think. they might start teasing me too! at least that older lady in the corner is, nicest lady alive would love to adopt her as my own grandma, but she will never let me live it down if she knows i think the waitress is cute." he pouts a little again, adopting his standard kicked puppy look as sieun had called it.
he wishes he could just slap his cheek and will the crush away, but he knows the next time she's in it'd come right back. hell, he'd been visiting the place daily just to work up the courage to speak to her, but each time he failed and each time he kicked himself over it. he doesn't tell sieun about his failures but knows she's perceptive enough that she'll figure it out sooner or later. the man is also smart enough to know that she's never going to let this go until she sees him speaking to the waitress, but he wasn't about to let that happen. not yet. she'd also never let him live down embarrassing himself, which he is positive he'll do if he attempts to talk to the cute girl.
"ah, that's a good question. it's foreign. brittany. she's american. like brittany spears? except she's not brittany spears. i bet she knows oops i did it again, though, that seems like an american thing to know doesn't it?" she's not american, and her name definitely isn't brittany, but the problem is he doesn't know her name. he knows his rambling will give his lie away, but he can't help himself, and he's not about to tell sieun he's never actually gotten her name. he sputters and looks away when sieun asks if he'll introduce them before eyeing her from the corner of his eye.
"she's not in, i told you." that may or may not have been a lie, in truth, he didn't know her schedule so it was very possible she'd walk through the doors and his soul would escape from his body. but he hadn't cursed himself yet and he quickly raps his knuckles on the wood of the table just to be sure. "so, maybe some other time?" with that, he shoots her a cheesy grin, but internally he hopes they don't get the chance.
