I do not like the vampire lestat season so far. At all. Sure let’s strip the gothic beauty away from Anne Rice‘s world and make it a cheap pantomime of cringe and horror. A few bits of clever writing here and there are not enough to make up for a horribly obvious and thematically oblivious show. Maybe Akasha’s arrival will resuscitate my interest. “Agent Talbot” better be walking around in a gorgeous young vampire skin suit, but even if that’s the case, then they’ve butchered tale of the body thief to fit this misshapen knock-off… ugh

Every new episode has had me double down on my first impression take. It’s a tacky season thus far, and all the fans are raving about the nuance and theories as if they aren’t all obvious, and worse inaccurate. E.g. “The tOwER coLLapsiNG is LeSTat’s mEmOry cOLLapSiNg!” Was it not already terribly obvious he’s having a breakdown amongst other things. Jesus Christ. The first two seasons were a success because they were solid adaptations despite changing fundamental aspect like the race and time setting of the characters- the themes and event progression were largely the same. And now they’ve butchered Gabrielle, the wolf-killer narrative, the bandmembers of the Vampire Lestat??, and the whole purpose and set up of Lestat becoming a rockstar. It’s giving horror Hallmark channel DeGrassi. And I genuinely wish that I was saying that in a good campy way. One night only global phenomenon Death Valley concert you are missed. I saw a theory that Regina might be Merrick or something like that, that would be interesting but I doubt it. I think the fans are giving too much credit to this season💀 If the showrunners did pull through on something as momentous as that I would be impressed. But also irritated if ToTBT and Merrick storylines were butchered to fit this show’s event progression. Being a certified hater on main but it’s my account and I need to vent so
