Doll Maker AU: Virgil and Remus’ styles
- Creates doll based statues (dolls that can’t really move, more for decoration)
- Generally his works have dark-ish style and a creepy feel. The kind of dolls that are beautiful but unnerving.
- Insects/arachnids, original fairytales, and gothic themes are his main inspiration as well as just creepy/cool things in general.
- Very good at detailing (from sculpting the details to the colouring them)
- Also somewhat good at sewing (he’s very good at human clothes but tiny intricate doll pieces can be somewhat of a struggle -although with years of practise that has improved a lot, nevertheless he usually finds a way to fix it all in the end.)
- Often uses the rerooting technique for hair.
- He likes to meticulously plan and ensure everything he needs is ready before he begins. His sketch book is filled with design after design, which sometimes makes him indecisive in what he wants.
- He struggles to make dolls that can move/switch positions with the types of creations me makes (so he usually doesn’t make them able to, hence statue dolls). When he does want to make a posable one, he’ll usually ask Remus for help.
- Prefers to make dolls that are able to be played with.
- Uses ball point dolls, big dolls, and sometimes mannequins.
- Usually he has a gorey style. It can be completely random though, with a lot of mis-match (for example the top half being a fairy Princess while the bottom is deep sea creature with decomposing limbs.)
- Very good at modifications in terms of engineering ways for things to squirt from, voice boxes, lights, etc.
- Very experimental, with most of his inspiration coming from just random things he’s seen and thought of, things he’s found in the trash, or the dark/gross side of nature.
- Uses any technique (and anything) for hair, there is no rhyme or reason to his style.
- He never has a plan to begin with, just jumps into it. He often gets sidetracked (hence why a lot of his creations are mis-matched) and has many half done projects or pieces of dolls laying around.
- He has set up mannequins outside of Virgils door and scared the living hell out of him many times.
- The two work and live together. The top half of the house is split into to sides for their work spaces while the bottom level is for general living.
- They can help to balance out each other’s methodology, with Virgil helping Remus plan ahead for really big projects (particularly the expensive ones) and Remus helping Virgil adapt to work with unfixable mistakes he made, although a lot of the time they let each other do their own thing.
- They’re the main focus in the AU
