She didn't stay out in the open long enough. Is what it felt like for sure, but I feel like I am always in the quest for a perfect photograph, which can lead to some dissatisfaction. I will wish I had been closer, or if my camera had been dialed in more. There is a longing always to have the opportunity before me again. But I do not live in #Kenya or #Africa, and sometimes upon reflection I have to just say; "I was there and I saw that". So it was as in this picture. I was with my little boy, and at sunset we found ourselves on the other side of the creek, opposite of all the other game drive cars, and we got to watch this truly beautiful animal walk along a ridge of boulders, rock, grass and bushes. It almost pains me to post this picture for a few reasons. One is that I'm getting into some of my #bird images and I'm enamored with a few of them (there is a Oxpecker on his back which I love), and I don't feel this is my strongest image of the trip. Two is that will forever be haunted by two blades of grass that seemingly got into nearly every #rhinoceros photo I took, and I wish we had stayed photographing them longer because we didn't any more the rest of the trip. And three because of what has happened to them. An animal that has survived with us through the ice age, and the senseless slaughter of these animals that carries on to this day. I just don't understand the person that sniffs some ground up Rhino horn and thinks that it's somehow ok? Why? To get your dick hard? Seriously, this should have gone away with the invention of #Viaga. As one guide @jeffsjungle pointed out "There should be hundreds of thousands of them". I like teasing my four year old daughter by saying things like "a giraffe had a shooort neck". "No they don't Daddy!!!" Here a Reticulated Giraffe is chewing the tender leaves found amongst the thorns of an #Acacia tree. When you see the thorns on these it's pretty amazing that they are able to pick around them. Then again I saw a elephant take the same kind of tree and just grind it all up.
