it is 3:56AM.  my heart is both heavy and weightless, paused between two ways of living. these lungs do not hold oxygen but instead imprison my prickly feathers. every night i am reminded of them, and that i am here, and that i am alone. i lay here tonight in this bundle of fabricated warmth wondering where my head has gone. i then realize that it was never there. this is not a dream.  i am not myself.
