Wanderlust

Pegasus | Trans He/Him

Wanderlust is  a traveler who has been all over Equestria, and beyond! He has an interest in the stories of people and places from all over, and works to collect these tales in his journal to be retold and shared to folks all over who would otherwise have never heard them! 

Though he is a very sociable and charming pony, one who finds himself ingratiating himself among locals time and again, he has very few true friends he would go to or rely on in a pinch. The truth of the matter is that whilst Wanderlust loves to travel, they also have little choice. A nomad since their youth, they have never felt truly at home anywhere and more than anything want to find a reason to just stay somewhere. To have someone or something worth clinging to.

He has yet to find this purpose though, and so he continues to travel and collect his stories. He is a bit cowardly of a stallion despite his facade of adventure. He prefers to watch rather than interfere, but push comes to shove he is quick thinking and with a little bit of kindness can be persuaded to stick his loyalty just about anywhere!

Wanderlust is creative, accepting, and curious.

Hearthstone / "Hearth"

Earth | Genderfluid Any/Any

Hearth isn’t afraid to be brash and loud, always willing to intervene in injustice and do the right thing, no matter the stakes! They are a local to the hard working lower class community of Manehatten. Their family is a core of the community with both of her parents being carpenter and labourers. Hearth has grown up with an abundance of good role models in work ethic, compassion, and helping thy neighbor. 

They have also grown up keenly aware of the injustice they and the worse off of their community faces with the growing divide between upper and lower class ponies in the city. They will readily stand up for and fight for anyone in trouble and are deeply loyal to the idea of a close knit community where they all have each other's backs.

He is charismatic and beloved by their community, even if rough at the edges. Everyone knows she would raise a stink and stand for them in the face of a bully, just as much as they would all do it for them.

Hearth is loving, protective, and has a strong integrity. 

Diamond Rough / Dazzling Jewel 

Unicorn | Trans She/Her

Diamond Rough was a poor foal, orphaned young and who belonged to a group home. Although most days she rarely kept close to the place of care, most did. As a young foal though she had wandered off to a district of the town outside of her social standing where she ran into a wealthy couple. Though initially afraid she had offended them with her presence, she soon found herself being looked after by the two and soon adopted.

They had wanted a child, an heir to their fortune and something to fawn over, but could not have children of their own. Then here comes Diamond Rough! Stumbling into their lives with an evident spark for magic and a talent in betterment itself!

Having her name changed to fit in with her new social standing, separating her further from her poor roots, Dazzling Jewel is hardly recognizable as the foal she was when she was brought into this life. She does everything she can to perform opulence and strives to deserve the life she has gained. To always do the right thing by her parents. 

However in this effort there is also estrangement, a feeling that she will never truly belong and that she has fooled the people in her life to see her as something she isn’t. They want more than anything to be accepted as they are without constantly needing to prove themself.

Dazzling Jewel is accepting, hard working, and academic.

Tinker Tool 

Unicorn | Nonbinary They/Them

Tinker Tool is from a lower class family. They were raised by their poor single mother who works as a seamstress, who found herself developing chronic pain issues as she grew older and took care of herself less in favour of work and Tinker.

Because of this Tinker Tool taught themself how to help around the house, and would spend time fixing up the things they needed to avoid needing new things. This eventually turned to helping fix other folks' things for quick cash, and their talent developed from here.

They became a bit of an experimenter, creating gadgets both fun and functional. Until they caught the eye of a wealthy pony who was so delighted by the fun trinket they’d made that they chose to patron Tinker to make more.

They work now to support their mother as she ages, patroned to create silly but useless things to delight their investor whilst making more useful inventions on the side for the betterment of their own life and those around them.

They are a bit distanced  from their community, viewed by some as a class traitor for the frivolous work they do. They persevere despite the ridicule however, taking joy in the act of creation regardless and wearing the favouritism they have from their benefactors with enough pride not to lose it. They care deeply for people and strive to put good into the world, but they look out for themself and their mother first and foremost. 

Tinker Tool is dedicated, creative, and eccentric.

Promise Dawn 

Pegasus | Cis She/Her

Promise  Dawn was touched by magic as a filly. Always with her head in the clouds, wandering and getting in trouble for it. No one could ever seem to keep tabs on her. No one could understand her. With her sixth sense for change and a hope that defied all logic. 

They began having visions as they grew older, and earned their cutie mark in finally realising what was happening to her. The gift she had. But as a pegasus her concerns and insistence of magic were dismissed, and rarely listened to. She was merely a ditzy imaginative girl.

She tried not to let it bother her, growing distanced from her community, save the only pony around who would ever seem to listen to her, Hearth. Promise Dawn focused instead on using her magic for what good she can, even if no one believes her. She is hopeful of the glimpses she sees for change in their city, and strives to keep an eye out on what she can do to move it along. 

Promise Dawn is observant, hopeful, and spacy.

Red Velvet / (Undercover name pending...)

Earth | Cis He/Him

Red Velvet is from a noble born family in Manehattan. He was raised in splendor alongside his siblings and was the spitting image of a perfect noble stallion as he aged…

At least, until the cracks started to form. The opulence of his lifestyle showed to be a shiny facade in the face of resistance from a lower class he’d rarely seen. He couldn’t understand what was going on, the divide between the city's classes. 

Of course he wanted to learn, he wanted to understand as much as he could. But the more he understood the more he didn’t. How were there ponies living in poverty whilst he owned a million useless things and had leftovers on the table at every meal? Why were their ballrooms decorated and their gowns bejeweled whilst the seamstress’ and carpenters of their communities were barely able to eat?

It didn’t make sense, and in a fight with his family in trying to understand what surely must be a good explanation for this divide, he was given no answers. Instead he was shunned for daring to care for the lower class at all, and upset this balance that keeps them on top. 

Growing jaded and unable to stomach his place in the hierarchy anymore, Red Velvet took what he could carry on his person of important or rich enough belongings and he ran away. Covering himself in a cloak to hide his identity, he moves to the poorer district in hope of finding a way to help, a way to change things. But as an outsider unable to reveal much of himself he found himself shut out there as well. No one was willing to get mixed up with a pony they viewed as potentially dangerous carrying far too expensive things.

Red Velvet has grown jaded, surviving now in a world he wasn’t prepared for and only feeling that there is nothing to be done and that he was a fool for trying. It will take time and connection to realise that his position is what gives him power, and whilst rejection might be noble in theory his true calling should be trying to help from above, not below. It takes all sorts remember…

First up are the Moonstone sisters! This art is from 2017.

All my Gem OCs had been from an au where a seperate rebellion/coup apart from the Crystal Gems happened. Most of my OCs were Gems who had defected. Because of this remember a lot of their personalities, but a lot of their home world purposes were underexplored.

The Moonstones were such few who I have no memory for their purpose. The thing I do remember was that they were designed the only gems where cross fusion was allowed on homeworld. Moonstone and Sunstones being made to act as a pair of combat partners who when fused created something balanced.

Now my Moonstones are homeworld spies. With the power to turn invisible they make excellent scouts for anything that homeworld may wish to investigate! My Moonstone is rather friendly and mischievous, whilst Rainbow Moonstone is more reserved and careful.

Next are the Sunstones! You can see these two got similarly redesigned at the Moonstones, even if I'm not sure they are a pair anymore, they are functionally similar and in a similar caste placement! So I like them to match.

Sunstones now in my fanon have light powers, in opposition to the Moonstone's invisibility powers. Their purpose is distracting in nature, instigative, using their powers to blind and distract. They live a more dangerous life, in the limelight compared to their Moonstone counterparts. They are sent on missions which require more strategy, alongside their Moonstone partners, so that they may affectively clear the way and keep heat off the other as they look into things. If you see a Sunstone nearby, be wary of what you don't see.

Sunstone had a similar personality to Moonstone, being louder, more confident, and while appreciative of mischief, far more prone to genuinity. Star Sunstone on the other hand was an extremely nervous fellow, who decidedly did NOT have the best personality for his life.

These two I remember more plot for. I'll safe Sunstone since it has to do with one of the others posted here, but Star Sunstone was portrayed as having a rather abusive relationship with a Cotton Candy Agate. I have no recollection on what their affiliation was, if they were under the command of the Agate, in a way similar to the Quartzes who Holly Blue Agate in canon had authority over that she abused. But this lead to Star Sunstone's gem getting chipped/scratched and there being fallout with that.

Next is White Howlite! Howlites in my au were meant to be a sort of messenger Gem, someone to handle more physical communications or deliveries. White Howlite had, predictably, been a part of White Diamonds court.

I have since changed Howlites to instead of being messengers, being stewards, folks kept around by more important gems to manage their things. Their homes, ships, territories, etc.

I had very little about my Howlite despite them being one of the OCs I remember as part of the lineup more prominently. I think they had a very begrudging caretaker personality, leftover need to manage things from their homeworld life.

Finally, Painite! An extremely rare gem whose abilities I changed on rewrite. Initially they were literally just a torture machine, a living weapon created solely to punish other gems at their diamonds whim. Isolated from other gems, kept like a prized pet to their diamond. I have now changed that at least a little bit.

Painite in the updated version is still rather isolated, though less obviously so. Painites may be of the rarest gems on homeworld, second only to the diamonds. They are extremely high nobility, but do not possess the freedoms of other higher ranks given their rarity and dangerousness. They have a power to puppet other gems, a painful process, to control people. They are usually brought out as a last resort for oppressing dissenters and walking the gallows bound to an "honourable" execution. They are poorly socialized, expected to hold little to no empathy for their fellow gems, and even when the option arises folks aren't often interested in being friendly with something so dangerous.

Originally Painite and Sunstone shared a dynamic, and Sunstone was the one to get through to Painite, offer friendship they'd never known, and lead them to join the rebellion. I still like the idea but have no idea how to implement it.
