I spent Valentine's Day wine tasting at David Girard Vineyards with my lovely girlfriend. The wines shown here are their red and white dessert wines.
(It was a bit of a splurge, but in my book great wine is worth it!)

Montmartre, Paris
I took these pictures on Saturday evening, after spending the day in San Francisco with Becca.
The first photo was taken from Pier 39, and the second was taken from the roof of our parking garage.
The view almost made the price of parking worth it.
Almost.
This is the Point Pino lighthouse in Pacific Grove, California. It is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the west coast. I visited last weekend on a trip with my lovely girlfriend. If you pop inside, for a suggested donation of just two dollars, you can explore the history of this point. From its first female keeper, and the first female lighthouse keeper on the west coast, Charlotte Layton, through World War Two, Point Pintos has had a fascinating history! For more information, check out the official website.
The top picture was taken through a warped window in the observation room just below the tower. Keepers kept watch on the shore here and logged what they saw- everything from changes in the weather to shipwrecks.
Becca and I spent a few hours touring the world last weekend. Or rather, we got as close as we could get in just one evening. The Global Winter Wonderland is in Sacramento, and it's absolutely fantastic! The show features lit displays of different monuments from all over the world, as well as performances honoring different cultures.
(If you're interested in paying a visit, check out www.globalwonderland,com!)

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I hope you're all enjoying 2015 so far. I'm a horribly nostalgic person around the new year, so brace yourselves for a sappy post. Ready?
I've been so blessed this year. 2014 took me from ringing in the New Year under the Eiffel Tower on January 1 with my family and a great friend, to watching Fireworks in Old Sacramento, California with an incredible girl on December 31st. I'm so grateful for the people I've loved and the adventures I've had in 2014. Here's to another great year!
Did you make any new years resolutions? Where do you want to travel in 2015?
I’ve seen a few of these on other blogs, and loved the idea so much I wanted to post one too. To all my followers, you should seriously check out these bloggers. They’re awesome! To all the blogs on the list, thank you for being you. You’ve all been a favorite part of my 2014 and I’m thankful for...
A huge thank you to bonjourlegrandmonde! If you guys get the chance, check out their blog, it's lovely!

Merry Christmas to one of my favorite blogs! May all your wishes for the new year come true! :D
Awwww, thank you! And a Merry Christmas to you, too! It's always a delight to see you on my dash. :)
Hello, friends!
I've been crazy busy lately, but now that finals are over I'm taking advantage of the holiday downtime.I'm home for the holidays, indulging in a bit of armchair travel and reading some of my favorite travel writing.
I'm in the middle of Travels with Charlie in Search of America now.
What are your favorite books on travel?

Icelandic Toasted Porter

American Porter
6.00% ABV
This is a deep, toasty, malty beer with hints of coffee, chocolate, and roasted nuttiness. There’s a bitter finish, but it doesn’t distract one from its overall smooth texture. Really excellent porter. Now to just drink it when I travel to Iceland.
