Hey, that whole paragraph is true! I’m a salvadoran living in El Salvador atm. We had non stop heavy rain for 2 and a half days. It only stopped raining about 3 hours ago.

The Government had time to prepare for this (It was warned like 8 days before it hit us), but the president is too busy throwing a tantrum and keeping the population locked down and starving in some cases. His quarantine has made it so people can’t even get mattresses or clothes now that they’ve been lost to massive storms and houses going down, or can’t get what they need to rebuild/fix their houses.

Any help you can give means a lot to our people!

Portland Area Rent Freeze Now

The demand to get our local officials to produce an immediate rent freeze and an end to sweeps is on. For our comrades who owe mortgages, we encourage further action as it might be in the hands of forces larger than our local government can prevent. Ask for the support you need here and we will do what we can to meet each other’s needs. Stay tuned, share widely (link is: change.org/pdxrentfreeze), and know we will likely need to mobilize everyone we know, both on and offline, in the coming days. I am devastated watching what happened last night in Honduras. Militarized, U.S. backed forces murder people cold in the streets. A monstrous, fascist military coup sells the poorest residents out for American interests, and who but Hilary Clinton decided to legitimize the dictatorship? No elections, no peace, and now the U.S. says, “don’t come here looking for help.” Do you know what they want? An imprisoned workforce to exploit. Do you know who they want it from? People like us. Had Reagan or Clinton had their way, you would not even know my name, or for that matter have read this morsel of news you’ll soon forget.

All told, 15 parents and kids are living in motels and family's extra rooms until they can find new housing. The Ruben, Harper,...

A two-alarm fire destroyed an apartment complex with multiple families, leaving them without shelter and destroying countless possessions. hey, remember how during the cold war the U.S. government backed the salvadoran civil war, a conflict that basically both further reinforced and/or caused the violence, poverty, and instability that still plagues the country to this day because i fucking do. apparently fucking over haitians and nicaraguans just wasn’t enough ok then.

UPDATE: A possible Tsunami has been warned at about 5 am in the following areas: Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and other neighboring areas at the coast. I’m hoping and praying it doesn’t get to a tsunami. I can only imagine how terrified everyone is down there….
