@polemistes sent: "This will cloud your memory. A couple strokes to put it in, then you'll belong to me."
On his back, with his heartbeat thundering in his ears and near unbearable heat coursing through his veins it is all that Lucca can do to look up at Meteor with darkened eyes.
His lips part in quiet awe at the words that fall from the other man's lips, before his gaze darkens further and a smile appears on his own expression. Lucca reaches up to run fingers through dark hair, pulling Meteor close with his hold as he parts his legs further.
Then, unexpectedly, he hooks an ankle around Meteor's leg and uses his hold and some force to turn them. Long hair falls around them as he leans over the other man, now straddling him, his own need evident between them.
"I'm yours already," he whispers in turn, now catching Meteor's lips in a initially languid kiss that quickly turns deeper and more heated, leaving them both breathing heavily in the wake of it.
Lucca shifts, breath hitching as the other's length brushes against his entrance. A moment later a hand trails down Meteor's chest and abdomen to eventually curl slender fingers around his erection.
A couple strokes; to feel his warmth, his length, his thickness before Lucca moves to finally align them. The muscles of his abdomen flex and his breath stutters out of him unevenly with how much he wants this.
Then, he lets himself sink down. A softened sigh of want escaping him upon the sensations flooding him.

He'd arrived at the Castrum late the night before, going straight to bed after an exhausting day's worth of travel. The one thing he did do the night before was putting his uniform on a hanger for easier access in the morning, but otherwise his bags weren't yet unpacked, the new quarters not even close properly moved into when he woke.
Lucanneas went through the motions of showering, drying his hair and brushing his teeth and eventually returned to the main room of his quarters to get dressed.
Tugging long hair out from the back of his shirt and uniform jacket, he let his gaze wander to take in the space. It didn't look much different from what he knew from his former accommodations in another castrum. A desk, a bed, a sidetable, several opportunities for storage, but otherwise ...empty.
The only things disturbing the orderly space were his opened suitcase and the bag he used to keep his research papers and tablet in. He'd get to properly unpacking later in the week most like, not that there was much to unpack anyway, but for today his uniform and the bag were enough to get him started with work.
Lucanneas adjusted his glasses and took a deep breath before leaving the room, trying to remember the code to his door in order to lock it. In passing his gaze fell upon the alarm clock on his sidetable. He was perhaps little earlier than needed for the meeting, but being early for the first appointment with his new superior seemed like a good idea. He might at least try and leave a good impression, although he didn't doubt the man was already wary of him.
He'd have read the report on Lucca's disciplinary issues and was most likely made aware of his family's history as well. Lucca didn't expect for an opportunity to tell his side of the story of the events that put him here, nor did he really want to.
Lucanneas tightened his hold on the strap of his bag, tension building in his shoulders and jaw at the thought. His medical or scientific achievements likely meant little to the man he was about to meet, from experience military men only cared for one thing: obedience. Lucca fought down bad memories and shook his head. He'd simply get through the meeting and from then on keep his head down for the next few weeks while getting used to his new environment. He only wanted to get back to his research.
Every day he felt more and more like he was running out of time.

Lucca had braved worse things than this before and swallowing down feelings of pain or the need to ask for help had quickly become a habit. One he needed reminding to break once in a while and as such a feeling surprisingly close to gratitude took a hold of him, knowing that Meteor saw right through his act and offered help in turn. It made him wonder how often the other man had been in a similar situation to be able to so easily call him out on it. He’d do his utmost to return the favor should the time come.
The healer had almost forgotten how it felt to have another’s healing magic tend to him, not to mention the foreign feeling of someone else’s touch upon his skin as well. The warmth of it overshadowed the sting of marred skin knitting itself back together. He exhaled slowly throughout, taking in the sensation of aether not his own flowing through him.
When it was done, he could breathe more easily than before. The sensation was met with a relieved smile which he quickly directed at Meteor. “Thank you, that’s much better.”
He shrugged his shirt and coat back on and worked to close the buttons and clasps, glad to find warmth enveloping him again. Lucca finished doing so just as Meteor began to search his bag. “…I could eat something,” he said in answer, shifting closer to curiously take a peak over the other man’s shoulder and at the contents of the bag.
He thought on the content of his own bag, which mostly consisted of medicinal herbs and potions as well as some other alchemical components. There was also another flask of water in there, but other than that Lucca didn’t pack many things. He was relieved to find at least one out of the two of them had thought to plan ahead in terms of food.
Lucca had always been notoriously bad at eating regularly, especially when there were tasks that needed doing, but now that it had been brought up, he realized he was indeed more hungry than he had thought prior. “Give me whatever you don’t want.” He said then. “I’m fine with anything, really.”
Whatever he didn’t want? How silly. If it were up to him, he could eat everything and leave none for his current companion. It’s not his fault they decided not to pack up, in so doing leaving themself vulnerable in this adventure. Or at least it’s the nasty thoughts which could’ve invaded his mind should he find himself lacking the heart to care about other people. It was a habit that he never got rid of ever since he started his adventuring ways. To be somehow prepared even if just a little bit. He learned his lesson the first time no one in his party brought a single supply.
While the negligence of other people is hardly his responsibility, there’s also just no harm in looking out after them. To begin with, they’re watching his back, and he contributes to their safety in kind. He convinces himself every time that it’s mutual benefit with that explanation, trying not to think it’s him acting selflessly for he’s painfully aware that he had been quite a push-over enough, allowing words and demands of others to go through him without as much as a word of complaint nor gesture of defiance. It’s pathetic, really.
He pulled a small knife from his side, cutting a few La Noscean oranges into several pieces. How long they’ve been in his inventory, it shall not be known. Regardless, the fruit remained edible and it certainly didn’t produce smells which summon forth disgust of questionable nature. It’s sweet and ripe as one would remember it. After tearing into dried meat with his teeth, he grabbed a piece of the fruit and raised his arm to give it to Lucca. Not simply give, but he appeared to be hoping to feed them, what with the fruit being close to their lips.
“If I do that, there’ll be none left for you,” he curved his lips into a small smile, not entertaining the foolishness of the notion. He continued to wave the fruit around before slowly frowning, realizing they’re taking quite the time to just eat the fruit from his hand. It’s nothing bad, right? To feed your companion this way, that is. “Anyroad, are you going to make me wait, Lucca? This orange won’t be eaten by itself.”
Lucca mirrored the other's smile, if somewhat apologetically. "I'm sorry that I'm proving to be a companion in need of so much help. I planned on being of aid rather than adding to your burden."
He was about to hold out his hand to receive the slice of fruit before he stopped mid-movement to blink at Meteor. It took him a moment to understand what the man was doing only to be hit by the realization when the fruit near touched his lips.
"Ah, right--" He stammered for a moment before leaning in further, opening his mouth to wrap his lips around the offered slice. Taken aback by the uncommon intimacy of the action he had to fight a sudden flush that crept unto his cheeks, but he quickly focussed his attention on chewing and swallowing the food instead.
"Remind me to treat you to lunch somewhere when we get back," he said after finishing. "--Or let me know if there is anything else you need. It's the least I can do for being such a nuisance."

@polemistes "no. u are just another hole"
"You know, the next time I knock you out I'll just let you lie where you drop."
@surpassing-limits: "But are you really?"
heavy sigh.
"...huh."
He's maybe a tad relieved that he seems to be safe from all this.
I want you for lifetimes but I shall be content with now.

It was meant to be a friendly spar.
The initial challenge was offered after a comment on Lucca's part about the other man's form while he went through a routine of kicks. It had been advice on holding his balance after a particular turn or something equally minor. After all, he knew Meteor to be more than capable in everything he was doing, this was no exception, but Lucca had learned how to hold his own in hand to hand combat from his grandfather and his lessons still rang true to this day.
While initially reluctant to accept, he soon found that it was fun to have someone to spar with after years and years of not properly getting to do so. And while Lucca was somewhat rusty, the two of them quickly found a rhythm that worked and the healer found he relished to not have to rely on his magic for once.
But what he didn't consider was just how competitive the both of them would become once he found his footing and after a long while of exchanging blows, Lucca became somewhat lost in the moment and mayhap a tad careless, too. He didn't consider how long Meteor had already been training today before he joined him. And eventually, it took but one unlucky step on Meteor's part born from exhaustion and in turn one moment of Lucca not being able to stall his punch in time for the other man to get hit a little too hard.
Lucca caught him as he saw the other loose his balance and his eyes went wide when he realized that Meteor had momentarily blacked out. He kneeled to have the other lay on the floor, his upper body propped up with one arm around his shoulders. "Meteor," he exclaimed, his free hand coming up to gently pat the other's cheek. Then he spoke his name again, this time a little louder and more worried. "Meteor!"
To his relief, the man's eyes fluttered open again shortly after and Lucca let out a long sharp breath. His chest was still rising and falling quickly from their spar, but steady hands immediately went to inspect the area where he had hit the other man.
Then, Meteor spoke, and Lucca's heart skipped a beat at his words.
There was a moment in which Lucca stopped what he was doing to simply stare down at Meteor, lilac eyes far wider than usual, the healers expression a far cry from the usual reserved smile. However, shortly after he chuckled lightly, embarassed, and went back to inspecting the bump on the other's head. "That blow really must have hit you hard..." He mumbled, even though a faint flush colored his cheeks that did not stem from their earlier activities.
He continued to hold Meteor up with one arm, his other hand now hovering just above his temple. With a moment's worth of concentrating he conjured up a minor healing spell to ease the pain the other must no doubt be feeling, while trying to calm his own rapid heartbeat.

It was expected. Truthfully, there was no time to lose. The more they stayed in this dungeon, the greater they expose themselves to its foreign dangers. The Paladin couldn’t tell if the refusal had been birthed from Lucca’s stubbornness or honesty. In spite of it, he’d quietly position himself to sit beside them, just close enough for their shoulders to touch. The fire he made was dim but enough to keep them warm for some time. Would it suffice to find respite? It’s apparent that it wasn’t just their bodies that needed to relax. The situation made their minds just as exhausted, or mayhap just him and he was senselessly imposing his own tired self to Lucca so he wouldn’t be alone in his self-made struggle.
For how many times had he uttered the same thing? Feigned his own tiredness and proceeded with his aether and mind wavering, legs wobbling and tortured to press onwards. It might be arrogant to assume they are one and the same, but what was life if not seeking the sameness in others? That in all his high and mighty gloriousness, he wasn’t above getting rid of his otherness even in the most shallow of ways? He raised his head, the hard surface of the stone wall reminding him of its weight and the knots upon his shoulders. He wouldn’t fight it, wouldn’t wrestle Lucca to lay down and listen to him. In spite of his insistent nature, to gain the respect of others, he must also trust in their words and actions.
Having observed the slight undressing of his companion, he took a deep breath and inched by the fire similarly. The wound wasn’t fatal. Still, that didn’t soothe any amount of worries inside his head. The sight of it made him grow more alarmed, fearing the next time such error would occur might spell the end of Lucca’s life and mayhaps his as a consequence. Slowly, he’d let a hand loose by unclasping his gauntlet. Having freed it from its confines left his fingertips numb and a touch strange as if it didn’t belong to him. He’d rub his now naked palm upon the soil, reveling in the coldness of the dirt before raising it back to accept the warmth of the fire. He rolled his shoulders before sitting properly before Lucca, each finger now inspecting the wound.
It’s not poisoned, yet it burned. It clung to the skin so fiercely as if threatening to devour every ilm. He closed his eyes and proceeded with the spell to close the wound, quiet and holy prayers leaving his mouth. It was a slow process overall. Regardless, it did not disappoint with results. However agonizing the experience must be, it cleaned and and retrieved what was lost. It would have been less potent if he was a proper Ul'dahn Paladin. Combining his own ushered Clemency with conjuring forced it shut, leaving only marks as proof that it had been there and naught else. Once done, he was quick to wear his gauntlet back to protect himself from the further harshness of the cold. Likewise, he had encouraged Lucca to dress up. It’s not just monsters that they’re fighting here but the environment as well.
“Are you hungry?” he inquired whilst he rummaged through his bag once again. “I packed some bread and fruits beforehand and some dried fish and meat. Might not be to your liking, but it’s all we’ve got right now.”
He'd do his utmost to return the favor should the time come.
The healer had almost forgotten how it felt to have another's healing magic tend to him, not to mention the foreign feeling of someone else's touch upon his skin as well. The warmth of it overshadowed the sting of marred skin knitting itself back together. He exhaled slowly throughout, taking in the sensation of aether not his own flowing through him.

salutaryruin:
“And it seems you don’t have enough–” Lucca drew in a sharper breath upon Meteor’s touch against his side, albeit out of surprise rather than pain. He wasn’t used to tenderness of any kind as of late and the contact, however brief, left him with an underlying want to reach out and take the other’s hand, but instead of doing so he hesitated, and before long Meteor turned away again.
Lucca exhaled quietly.
He still made no move to use another spell, preserving his strength for now. Who knew when the next foe decided to strike, he needed his magic at the ready for that. “There is no need. I’m fine,” he averred, but knew it would likely do little to convince his companion.
Meteor’s next words gave him pause however, and he looked around to take stock of their surroundings. It seemed the most recent fight had put them slightly off from their previous course and even before they had little to go on for directions. “… On second thought, mayhap we ought find a place for a short rest before continuing. We’ve been out here for hours now.” He offered then, having noted Meteor’s quickly souring mood.
“It would give us opportunity to gather some strength, and me the time to take another look at any injuries of yours–” He reasoned. There was only so much a healer could do in the middle of battle after all. “–and at my own, too.” He added, fully expecting an objection from the other man if he didn’t.
Well, there was no point in continuing on if they’re both wounded, exhausted and unsure of where to go. They’ve taken a couple steps before he settled on a spot. It was slightly hidden from the main path they were at before. It’s nothing comfortable to stay at, but it was dry and sheltered enough. Should creatures decide to appear out of the blue, they wouldn’t be caught off guard. He laid down what little luggage they have and was quick to grab the water canteen from his inventory. Going for so long without water made him vexed.
He twisted the cap, his thirst so apparent with the way he almost spilled all the water on his body. He just needed enough to cool his head, to take his mind off from the fact that he almost lost Lucca due to not being attentive enough. He used what little ice clusters he had on him to cool the water off, feel the slightest bit of chill upon his unnerved skin.
After some time, he swiftly tossed the canteen to Lucca so they could have a drink too. There should be more than enough left to last them just a little longer in this dungeon. “If you need to sleep, I’ll keep watch.” And though it wouldn’t be smart to start a fire and risk alarming the creatures lurking beneath, he did so anyway. Anything to take care of Lucca since he was much too proud to bring more people in this foolish adventure of his. “I can help with your wounds as well so you don’t expend too much aether.”
Lucca followed Meteor in silence, leaving the decision of where to make camp to him in its entirety. He trusted him to keep them safe, he wouldn't be here if it was otherwise.
The healer could basically feel the tension coming off the other man in waves, and read it in just about every move he made, but he was uncertain how to go about easing it, so for now he simply remained quiet. At the very least Meteor seemed not ailed by anything resembling a wound at the moment, which was a relief.
It left Lucca time to find a place to sit when he realized he was at least somewhat weak on his feet from the dull pain in his side, but his eyes remained on the other man as he went about making camp, which made it easy enough to catch the flask when it was tossed his way.
He too took a few huge gulps from it, his thirst only now becoming apparent that he had the opportunity to have some water. He noted another more prominent twinge of pain as he moved an arm and it put some strain on his side. It caused him to lower the flask and screw it shut again before setting it aside, attention shifting to himself entirely rather than his company.
Meteor's words were still heard, and he answered by shaking his head. "This should suffice," 'This' being just a moment to catch his breath. "I'm not tired." A relief really, he wouldn't have been able to sleep in any case, despite his earlier reassurance he was shaken by the attack, though he didn't want to admit to it lest the other worry about him more.
While speaking he began to undo his coat and the shirt beneath to be able to get a better look at his side. Until now he could only guess what the earlier blow had resulted in, but as he shrugged fabric off his shoulder and down his arm, revealing his side, he could now see it clearly. Lucca exhaled in a sigh. Besides familiar scars that marked his skin in that area there was now a rather colorful bruise that wrapped near entirely around his torso, the worst of which around his ribcage.
He shivered as the chill of the air around them hit his skin, and shifted closer to the slowly growing fire as he further inspected the bruise, turning towards the light and prodding at the skin, more roughly than he would have been if it were one of his patients he was treating. There were no broken ribs as it appeared, but judging from the pain that radiated through him and caused him to grit his teeth upon one particular touch it had been a close call.
Lost in thought as he was at that point Meteor's offer came as a surprise and Lucca's eyes were rather round as he blinked up at him in return. It had been ... years since someone last offered to treat his wounds. "I--" am fine. The words were once again on the tip of his tongue, but this time he didn't utter them. Instead, he reconsidered.
"If you're able, I'd much appreciate it." He offered a smile, a shy one, but gratitude shone in his eyes. He wasn't used to asking for help, but if he wanted Meteor to rely on him he at least needed to be willing to do the same in turn.
salutaryruin:
“But you won’t fail to.” Lucca gave a reassuring smile which shortly took on an amused note at the other’s following words. “Of course. It won’t do to have to deal with mine and your recklessness both.”
His tone remained of a lighter nature, although it eventually made way for a sigh and a more serious answer. “I know. You only mean well–” he relented then, reaching to adjust his glasses as he averted his eyes. Lucca wasn’t all that familiar with being the one worried about. He was more accustomed to doing the worrying.
“–and I’ll be more careful.”
However, even as he said this he shifted his weight from one foot to the other, turning his right side away from the other man. In his defense: he was not entirely conscious of the movement, but mayhap Meteor was right to scold him, seeing as the healer had taken a blow to the side earlier. One that left a nasty bruise at the very least, and judging from how pain radiated from his ribcage he may have suffered a cracked rip or two.
Lucca poorly concealed a wince by speaking again, “Shall we press on? I’d rather not stay out here for longer than we have to.” He would not draw attention to his own state by conjuring another spell for himself, not after just reassuring the other that he was fine – safe even, and he was, if…a little bruised.
Nothing worth mentioning in any case.
He won’t. He’d never. Or at least he’d convince himself that it’s within his capacity to protect Lucca at all costs. But what could he say for himself when he wasn’t even at the ready when the impact followed? He was supposed to be the shield, not the one that needed to be sheltered from incoming blows. They could stand here and point fingers for however long they felt like. In the end, it already happened. Another failure he could add to his list. Was it less about worrying over Lucca and more about his own shortcoming? He couldn’t say.
“You have too much faith in me,” he motioned to their side and and softly touched their rib, careful to not poke it so heavily as to cause harm. Lucca’s expressions might conceal the fang of pain they feel and he’d have nothing to do but accept that they’re not comfortable to admit to it. There’s only the unspoken promise that it won’t happen again and that he’d do better in making sure all enmity was on him so they could do what they were initially here for. “But you’re right. Let’s get out of here faster so we can get you checked.”
He turned around to lead the way once again, shield and sword at the ready. How long have they been wandering about? There’s still no sight of their objective and it’s been admittedly annoying him, dragging his temper down.
“Are we even on the right path?”
"And it seems you don't have enough--" Lucca drew in a sharper breath upon Meteor's touch against his side, albeit out of surprise rather than pain. He wasn't used to tenderness of any kind as of late and the contact, however brief, left him with an underlying want to reach out and take the other's hand, but instead of doing so he hesitated, and before long Meteor turned away again.
