Can relate, I still can't really figure out what this is going amount to from the 2 episodes so far. Currently I'm kinda expecting that Deirdre is gonna be upset by either not getting a tape recorder anywhere or the tape being less than what she's expecting. Also waiting to hear if all the raports she's been reading are just her own or if there really exist some other WF fans in-universe

Yes!  Now that there are two episodes out, I’m getting a slightly better idea of the podcast’s concept, and definitely want to keep listening--isolation and loneliness appear to be huge themes (even the tagline of ”if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it--it makes a sound!" is about something happening to someone while they’re alone/unrecognized, and I agree that all the “sources” for her accounts seem to be Deidre herself), and it seems like the story is going to be sad rather than horrific.

I was initially unsure of the genre, since the accounts of  spying on Wim Faros creeped me out, the idea of and adult woman making an obsessive show about a 16 year old boy from 1992 unsettled me, and The Other Voice was startling -- but the second episode didn’t give me the sense that it’ll be a horror podcast like WTNV, AID, and WTW.

But I’m typically not a fan of podcasts that are this ambiguous.  If a 30 minute episode leaves me feeling just as confused and unfulfilled as the 3 minute preview did, I’m not going to be motivated to invest another 30 minutes into it.  However, Night Vale Presents has built up enough credit with me that I’ll give it another episode or two before deciding if I’ll continue to listen.

I understand that there exist good stories that unfold over the course of multiple episodes, and it’s not as if I want all the themes set out plainly for me in the first ten minutes, but I couldn’t grasp the premise at all.  Is the unsettled mood meant to be sinister, or tragic, or nostalgic?  Are the episodes going to follow a particular format, or is it just going to be Deidre musing without pattern?  In this podcast about music and focused on a musician, are we ever going to hear any music?

I don’t know, but I do know that I’m not finished looking for answers.  Not even close.
