I'm not sure if this is a hot take or not but I think if Will was a girl he would definitely be one of the most hated characters of Stranger Things. I came to this conclusion because Will tried to (or did) flirt with his sisters boyfriend. (Which he knows have been together for the past 3 years). He would've probably been labelled a homewrecker or something.

What I noticed alot is that people don't care about this type of stuff when it's a gay or lesbian ship because they're sadly mostly minoritys in shows. I honestly think Will deserved to have a separate gay awakening. Its sad that they just "squeezed" him into Eleven and Mike considering him and Eleven are siblings. They did him dirty by making him fall for his sisters boyfriend.

But I also think he shouldn't have flirted with Mike in Season 5 I think it was just kinda weird and messed up. Not only was that weird but giving byler shippers hope by putting that scene in the show and then just not making them canon is a whole other level of betrayal.
