Salamanders & Cosplay

Attempt #1 of Stantler.  This was a quick trial.  I’ve got a friend cutting out the pieces for attempt #2 which should be much neater and made in less of a hurry (first one was part of a prank).  I plan to hand-sew the antlers this time.  Pattern is based on the deer pattern from @beezeeart

That was the same day that Before the Storm released (August 31st).  Ironically, I had worn my Max cosplay to class that morning only to find out we were on a tornado warning, and I constantly heard news of tornado watches, warnings, and a sighting during my drive to the con.  Coincidence?

Progress has been made!  Still need to make the tail and a few minor adjustments.

Thank you Pokemon for a great 21 years!  I started playing after generation 2 released (Crystal version), and I had the special edition gold/silver Pikachu gameboy color.  I now own a game from every single generation, and I still play Pokemon Go daily.  I also have a collection of Eevee-themed objects and over 10 Pokemon shirts (wearing one today).  Hoping to finish a Pokemon Sun/Moon cosplay for Dragon Con this year!

I'm thinking about working on a formal cosplay of Pyrrha Nikos from RWBY because I have a really cool idea for a Waltz dance routine.  It’s the dress she wore in the Shine dance.  I'm debating whether to make the dress or buy one similar.  I found an affordable dress that is perfect except for the slit is not in the same location.  What do you all think I should do?  I may look at sewing patterns before I decide.  There's a formal cosplay event I may attend at the end of February, so that also factors into the decision.  I'm worried that I may not be able to make a dress worthy of the event in time (if I go) and that a store-bought dress may be better.

Sometimes I feel a lot like Max from Life is Strange.  I can’t go back and change things no matter how much I would like, but I recognize that every action does have its consequences whether positive or negative. 

This is a shout-out to a classmate of mine and her boyfriend for their awesome Halloween cosplays!  I think they did an awesome job!

I may actually work on a Pyrrha formal cosplay solely to dance a routine to this song with a friend cosplaying as Jaune.
