I just realized I’ve never wrote down headcanons I have for Esther’s journey in Twisted Wonderland, so here goes nothing!
Note- I have caught up to the story (aka finished 7.5) but I’ve only been able to take part in a few events!
-Her adventures in Twisted Wonderland take place after the events of Fire Emblem Awakening, with Esther notably being 17 years old.
-Like with most cases, Esther wound up in Twisted Wonderland thanks to the classic horse carriage crashing into her while she was traveling through Ragna Ferox.
-HOWEVER, she ended up at Night Raven College after Yuu and Grim joined the school as official students, most notably between the end of Book 2 (Usurper of the Wilds) and the beginning of Book 3 (Merchant of the Depths). Around this time, a few new transfer students had been accepted and joined NRC (which brought about a grand, but smaller orientation ceremony), and Crowley thought Esther was one of said new transfer students. While no Grim shooting fireballs were involved, Esther did cause a great stir for 1: being the second otherworldly person to get summoned by the Mirror (the first being Yuu of course) and 2: trying to find a way to escape the school in a panic.
-due to the Dark Mirror only working when someone gives their real name (which Esther had to give in order for it to work), Twisted Wonderland is one of the few worlds she’s been to where she’s had to use her real name by default.
-Unlike Yuu, the Dark Mirror does not call Esther soulless. It noted Esther DOES have a spark of magic (to reflect on the Fire Emblem series’s take on Magic and now anyone could use magic with various rates of effectiveness), but it couldn’t exactly be identified under the perimeters of Twisted Wonderland. Thus, it declared that no dorm would fit her.
-Like Yuu in the prologue, neither Esther nor Crowley could find any sign of the countries from Awakening, nor any of the nations Esther initially grew up in from any of the maps of Twisted Wonderland. Crowley, in turn from his sheer kindness (cough more so convenience cough) relegated Esther to stay at Ramshackle as a temporary student until he found a way home for both her and Yuu OR until they could connect with Anna.
-Out of uneasiness, Esther initially made camp outside of Ramshackle due to worrying if it may collapse (specifically closer to where the graves around Ramshackle are, but not necessarily in it; she doesn’t want to risk disturbing the dead after all). It took a little bit of convincing from both Yuu and some of the Ramshackle ghosts before Esther moved into one of the sturdier rooms within Ramshackle.
-While in Twisted Wonderland, Esther currently has a bronze sword (for training), her Killing Edge sword (for actual combat), her mother’s silver bow and pack of 25 arrows, a travel kit, her sketching equipment, an arcthunder tome (???), and a very full bag of Ylissean gold coins; she initially earned thaumarks doing odd jobs for Crowley, but then she found a way to trade her coins for thaumarks to help her whenever she needs it’s worlds currency.
-While Coach Vargas’s classes have helped her keep up with her stamina, she does all she can to keep up her strength training by making training dummies out of random, old and used objects she’s found on campus and in the forest. Alas, she’s still stumped on how to ride a broom.
-due to her being near illiterate, she does all she can to better her reading and writing skills when not in classes; you’ll often find her in the library trying to write or read the letters from different books.
-this is the first time Esther has ever been to a school (let alone one that focuses on magic) so she might need a bit more time and patience to get used to everything.
-Due to Esther coming from a place that’s high fantasy (as with all Fire Emblem games), she is almost as naive with technology as Malleus is. While she at times cannot keep her curiosity at bay (like keep herself from pushing a random big red button to see what happens), she DOES however know enough about tech to have it not break while in her grasp.
