My fiancé and I have been doing something I have come to appreciate over the years (end of the month is yr #9! >w<)
One of us will say something that we'd never say (aka what the other would say). And then, we look at the other, and say "I do that because of you" or "I learned that from you."
For instance:
We were cooking together the other night. Making his favorite, breaded chicken, bc I wanted to make him smile.
I was adding garlic powder to the bread crumbs as he said, back turned from where I was, "Hey Babe, don't forget to add the extra garlic powder."
I said back, "Already on it! You taught me last time we made them together."
And...
My fiance and I we're chatting the other day and he said, "I love skipping rocks."
Then he caught my eye and said, "You know, I only know that because you taught me how to do it on our first date."
The warmth I felt in that moment was so sweet. It took me a minute to place just why it had affected me so much.
I've seen that Tumblr post about people being like mosaics, taking pieces of every person you know with you. And I was struck with a moment of 'holy shit a lot of our life together is made up of a mashup of each of us, what we know, what we've been through, our stories...we're so connected now'
Which I ALREADY KNEW IN THEORY, I GET IT.
But i fear there's a difference between knowing something and feeling something.
And this was that.
So if you have a partner, a friend, a family member, or someone you find pieces of yourself in, and them you, tell them <3
