So I found this coconut on the beach in Costa Rica and when I opened it THIS was inside. I think it’s the endosperm (or whatever you call the thing that develops into the tree). The coconut water itself wasn’t as sweet as usual (probably because it had sprouted), but the little sprout boi tasted sweet on one end and salty on the other. (submitted by @jewishpangolin)

My born-female child came out to me the other night as transgender. I held him in my arms while he cried and worked up the courage to tell me. When he hesitated, I told him that the next words out of his mouth would never change the way I felt about him. That he was my baby and would be until the day I died. That I loved him for who he was and that no decision he could ever make would make me stop loving him.  He told me. We hugged some more. We let it go.

Last night we went on our first mother/son date and we talked about the things he needed from me. How he wanted me to address him, what he needed in terms of support. We’re going shopping for binders next week, and I’m taking him to get his first boy haircut. 

He asked ME to help him pick his new name. “You are my mama, after all,” he said. And I just want to say one thing… I have never felt more honored by anything in my life.  I am a mother of 4 smart, compassionate, intelligent, and beautiful BOYS, and I couldn’t be more proud!!  Oh! And I told him I wanted to take him to a Pride celebration and he said, “That would be so cool!”  And I just want to state, for the record, that if you are a parent, and your child comes out to you, think long and hard before you give them a negative reaction. Is your own ego and pride worth more than a relationship with your child? For me, that answer is a ginormous NO!
