To say that you were furious would be an understatement. God did you hate Oscar Jack Piastri. You had really thought that this would be the season you would finally be going to Formula One, but Oscar kept pushing you off track and winning the races and now he had the Formula One seat, while you were still stuck at Prema. On the bright side you wouldn’t have to be his teammate anymore. Yeah this was definitely one of your worst days.

“Are you okay?” A voice asked.

“Why wouldn’t I be Leclerc?” You replied as Arthur, one of your closest friends sat down next to you.

“Because you hate Oscar and he has an F1 seat and well, you don’t..” he says.

You sigh, “Just means I have to get better, so I guess it is what it is”. You were trying to hide how hurt you were, but Arthur knew better, he didn’t say anything because he knew you would want space, so he left you sitting in your driver’s room.

A minute after he left you got up, locked the door and turned your back against it. The fight was finally lost and tears started streaming down your eyes, sobs wracking your body. You slid down the door to the floor, still crying. You hated this feeling of helplessness and failure.You felt like you weren’t good enough even though you were giving it your all and it just hurt.

You sat there on the floor of your driver room, crying your heart out. You knew you needed to be better to get into F1, and you would be. You decided then and there that the day you became a Formula One driver, the first thing you would do was push Oscar Piastri’s car off track.

You pulled from your vengeful thoughts when your phone rang. The caller ID told you that it was your brother Carlos. You supposed he’d seen the Oscar news and was calling to check in on you.

“How are you hermana menor?” He asked you.

“I’m fine” you said, but the hurt in your voice was evident.

“Mhm, and you’re totally okay that that Oscar kid is racing for McLaren next year” Carlos says flatly.

You sniffle, “Si, totalmente bien. Why would I let something like this affect me. He’s an idiot and at least I don’t have to be his teammate anymore”.

“Fine I believe you.. Want me to push him off track?” He asks you, like a good big brother should.

“Yea please” you reply, a smile forming on you face already.

australia 2024!

The 2023 F2 season had been an absolute blast for you. Life without that little Australian Pastry was really good. Sure there were bad parts, like losing Arthur as your teammate, but the two of you had made your peace with it.

The worst thing about your life right now though was your big secret, that you had a seat in Formula One, that you would be driving with Mercedes from 2025 to 2029. It was something that you should have been static to tell your family about, but you weren’t, because Carlos didn’t have a seat next year, and telling him that you, a rookie had been signed to a top team would be like rubbing salt in the wound, so you kept quiet. In fact the news of Carlos’ unemployment had come in just the day after you signed the contract, so you had asked Toto to not make a public statement as if yet.

Today was the Australian GP and you were attending it with your family. This also just happened to be Oscar’s home race. Now, you weren’t an evil person, but you really wished that he would DNF or have someone crash into him like he had done to you during your home race, and you knew for a fact that it wasn’t a mistake.

“Carlos Sainz is the winner of the Australian Grand Prix” the voice came over the PA and you cheered. Oscar had managed to make an enemy out of Carlos too somehow, so him winning Oscar’s home race was just gold. The smile on your brother’s face was so big, that it broke your heart that he didn’t have a team for next year yet.

You knew that if you went partying with the F1 drivers, Lando would get you stupid drunk and you would probably spill the beans about your contract. So now you were sitting at some random local bar, drowning your sorrows in liquor, not the most healthiest thing to do, but hey a girl gotta do what she gotta do.

“A gin and tonic for me please” says a guy who sits down next you at the counter. You stare at him a little and think he looks familiar. He turns to looks at you and there he was, Oscar fucking Piastri in all his glory.

He raises an eyebrow at you, “Shouldn’t you be out celebrating with Carlos and Lando or something?”.

“Shouldn’t you be home crying like a prissy?” You snap back, downing your drink.

He raises his hands up in surrender, “Jeez Sainz, I was just asking”.

You roll your eyes, “ Well you don’t need to pretend to like me Piastri, we’re not teammates anymore remember?”.

“Not my fault I was better than you”

“God am I gonna have fun pushing you off track next year” you mumble, but he hears you just fine. Damn him and his stupid good hearing.

“What do you mean.. you got an F1 seat?” He asks, astonished.

“Why are you so surprised? Didn’t think I could make it?” You ask him.

He shakes his head, “No I’m just surprised that Carlos doesn’t have a seat but a rookie does”.

“You didn’t have to bring that up.. ugh I hate you” you groan.

“Okay okay fine, sorry I guess… what team are you racing with?” He asks, and you’re a little surprised that he apologised to you.

You take a deep breath before telling him, “Mercedes”, and man does it feel good to get that off your chest. You don’t wait for his reaction, instead place some cash on the counter and leave.

“So this is how we find out, niña? Through an instagram post?” your father asks you, as you sit on the living room couch. You hadn’t told them about your contract before making the post, you just couldn’t look them in the eye and say it, so you just decided to let social media do it’s job for you. Now you were living the consequences of your actions.

“lo lamento” you mumble, your head still bent down, staring at the floor instead of your father. You knew that it wasn’t your fault the Carlos lost his seat, but you felt guilty either way, and all the tweets online about how you stole his seat weren’t helping either.

You father side down beside you, with Carlos on the other side and you in the middle. This was the conversation you had dreaded for a while, so here it goes.

You dad then asked, “Why are you sorry? You got an amazing job cariño, you should’ve told us”. There’s a hint of sadness in his voice.

“I signed the contract the same day Ferrari announced Hamilton’s move…” you reply, a uncertainty in your voice.

“You waited that long to tell us?” Carlos asks, and you nod. “Why?”

You take a deep breath, “I didn’t want to hurt your feelings…”

“Hurt my feelings..? What are you talking about?” Carlos says, confused.

“Ferrari had just reckoned you out of a job and I didn’t want to rub salt in your wound” you tell him.

He chuckles and pulls you into a hug, “You thought I would be mad? Are you crazy, I would’ve been happy much sooner. At least there will be one Sainz on the track”.

“Thank you” you say as you practically cry.

monaco 2024!

The race had gone amazingly well, and this time you were in a celebratory mood, so you were at Jimmyz’ with Arthur, Carlos, Lando and the other drivers that had decided to join. You were sat in a booth next to Arthur to whom you were talking about your Mercedes contract and the drama behind it. Time was passing way too quickly, or you were drinking too fast, because your drink was already over.

“I can get you another one” Arthur says as he see you draining the very last drops of your drink.

“Yes please, thank you” you say, and he gets up to get you another glass. You rested your face in your hands, waiting for him to get back. Then you felt someone sit down on the sofa, so you turned to ask, “Back so soon, Art- you’re not Arthur”.

It was, your least favourite person, Oscar Piastri, yet again, looking smug as ever after winning. “Why are you always so sad and lonely in bars post race? It is like a masochism thing or something?” he asks, eyeing you.

“I’m neither sad, nor lonely. Arthur just went to get me another drink… Shouldn’t you be celebrating P2 or something?” you reply, a bit more aggressively then required.

“Why would I celebrate something that’s not P1” Oscar says, and you rolls your eyes at his attitude. Every time you spoke to him you remembered why you hated his guts.

“Dios eres un pedazo de mierda” you mumble under your breath.

“Can you ever do something but insult me?” he asks you.

“Can you do something but get on my nerves?” you shoot back, and this time he rolls his eyes at you.

“Why is it that whenever we talk, we’re always in a bar?” he asks you, changing the subject.

“Because I can only tolerate your stupidity when I’m drunk” you tell him with scoff.

Before he could get in another word, Arthur came back with your drink, and you thanked god when he did, because he made Oscar go away, and you were at peace, sitting next to your best friend.

suzuka 2025!

Your spirits were high, you’d won the first even F1 race that you’d driven in. Mercedes was happy to have you, your skills were what could make them a contender for constructor’s championship. Basically you were happy, the team was happy and well, what’s better than that.

The Chinese GP had not gone as well for you as you had only gotten P3 but you were looking forward to fixing it in Suzuka. This was one of the hardest tracks to drive in, especially for a rookie like you, so you were a little scared.

But you took a deep breath as you sat in your car, mentally readying yourself for the race, assuring yourself that you could do it, that you could get P1. You drove your car over to the starting point. You were starting P5 which was not that bad, but the drivers lined up in front of you were quite formidable, difficult to overtake. Those thoughts were pushed away from your mind when the lights turned green and didn’t waste a minute to rush your car ahead.

In the first lap you had overtaken Charles in his Ferrari and were now a steady P4. It stayed that way till lap 28, when the visibility became absolutely horrible due to the rain and the two cars in front of you collided into each other. You didn’t pay attention to that and instead decided to fight Verstappen for P1. By the next turn you were the new race leader. It was comfortable at the top till lap 46, when a Mclaren started fighting you for P1. The Mclaren put up a tough fight on till turn 10, when he was trying to overtake you, but lost control of the car, rammed into you and then crashed into the wall. The crash looked horrible, and you did your best to not pay attention to it, but you had to know.

“Whose Mclaren was that? Are they okay?” you asked your team, curiously.

“Piastri.. He’s injured, being rushed to the hospital right now” the answer came. Something in you stomach twisted. You were worried? Feeling bad? You didn’t understand, so you just drove till you finished the race and won it.

The team ran up to you, hugging you and cheering you on. You stood on the podium with your teammate, George and your friend Lando. The Spanish national anthem played and you stood in attention as the trophy was given to you. The celebrations were quick, yet you were drenched in champagne by the end of it.

Something nagged at you though, you wanted to know how Oscar was. His crash had looked pretty horrible, and he was in the hospital right now, so you felt like you should see how he was doing. Did you care about Oscar Piastri? Is this what it was? Just because you were worried about another human doesn’t mean you like them right? You were just being a decent person.. You didn’t actually care about Oscar.

Even as you thought that, it felt like a lie because you rushed through everything. You were one of the first people to leave the track, along with Lando. The two of you were going to the hospital to see Oscar.

“How come you care about what happens to Osc?” Lando asks, as you’re sitting in the passenger seat fidgeting with your necklace.

“I don’t” you tell him.

He raises an eyebrow at you, “Then why are you coming to the hospital, and why do you look so worried?”.

“I just want something bad to happen to another human, doesn’t mean I care” you say, chewing the inside of your cheek. He didn’t say anything further, and drove to the hospital in silence.

Oscar lay in bed, an IV in his arm to hydrate him. He had a concussion so he was being kept for observation overnight, otherwise he was fine, thankfully. You entered the room and he seemed to brighten up a little.

“I think my concussion is really bad, because there is no way that THE Yn Sainz has decided to grace me with her presence in my compromised state” Oscar said, dramatically, to which you rolled your eyes.

“She’s really here, mate,” Lando told him, trying not to laugh at his antics, “And she left her podium celebration party to be here” he adds in a whisper.

You walk towards his bed and come at a stop there, “So are you like, okay? Heard you were in pretty bad shape”.

“I’m fine now that you’re here” Oscar says with a smirk on his face.

“Oh my god how badly did you hurt your head to be flirting with me” you ask as your eyes widen in shock at his words.

“Just as bad as you hit yours to be worried about my well-being” he replies.

Lando leaves because he feels like this is something that should be kept private. The doctor comes in a few minutes to find you bickering with Oscar. “So I take it you’re here to stay with Mr. Piastri for the night as we asked him to call someone” the doctors says to you.

“I- what?” you ask confused.

“We need someone to stay with him overnight, hospital policy recommends that the patient have some support while recovering and I told Mr. Piastri to call someone, and I take it that’s you” the doctor clarifies.You reluctantly agree to stay with Oscar for the night, no one else was coming for him, so you felt kinda bad and dammit you cared.

“You don’t have to actually stay, you know” Oscar says, once the doctor leaves and you settle down in a chair next to his bed.

“I’m not cruel enough to leave an injured guy alone” you tell him.

He looks at you questioningly, “Says the same girl who broke my nose once”.

“We like fifteen back then, Piastri, and you were being an asshole”

“You always think I’m being an asshole,” he remarks.

“And I’m always right,” you smile at him. Your eyes meet and the two of you share a look. He props himself up on the bed, a wince leaving his lips as he does so. You get up and go towards him, “Don’t try to do that, you'll faint or something”.

“See Sainz, you do care” he says slyly.

“Can you just shut up”

“Make me”

At those words, without thinking or giving a single shit, you locked your lips with his trapping him in a kiss. His hands made their way to your hair, pulling you closer, deepening the kiss, and it was clear that he had been wanting to kiss you for a while as well. The two of you stayed like that for a while till you finally pulled away, panting and heaving.

“That must be a killer concussion to make me hallucinate this” Oscar said playfully, making you scoff.

“Oh it’s very real Piastri” you smile at him and that’s that. He falls asleep after a while as you’re on your phone, and then it hits you as to what you’ve done.

miami 2025!

The past two Grand Prixs had fine. You had gotten a P2 and P3 respectively and you were happy about it. The incident with Oscar was something you had blocked out of your mind, hell, you hadn’t even spoken to him since that day because you didn’t know what you would tell him exactly.

Oscar was far from fine. He wanted answers. You had kissed him then just walked away in the morning then not even been bothered to talk to him about it. He wasn’t even mad, he was just upset that you had left the way you did. He had tried talking to you in Sakhir and Jeddah but he didn’t get a chance to speak to you, so he had made up his mind to talk to you in Miami. May come hail or storm, he was going to have a conversation with you.

The Miami Grand Prix wasn’t the most exciting one for you, but nevertheless you were determined to win this one. You pushed aside all your thoughts about Oscar and got into your car, and readied yourself for the race. You had qualified fourth, and would have to climb up three positions in order to win, seemed easy enough to you.

In the first lap, you had already overtaken Lando and were now in third position. You had to now overtake Hamilton and Max, the toughest ones to overtake on the track, both being world champions. By lap twenty three you were second with an eight second gap between you and Max. Lap fifty came around and you were leading. You won, there was a huge smile on your face as you stood on the podium.

Tonight instead of celebrating in a club, the drivers had decided to have a small dinner party at a holiday house that you had rented out. There was a ton of booze, music and food. It was actually a pretty amazing party. Dinner was being served so you decided to go wash your hands. You left to go into the empty hallway. It barely registered in your head when you were pinned against the wall by two hands on your waist.

“What the fuck, YN” Oscar said, his hands leaving your waist as to not cause you discomfort.

“I should be the one asking that question, seeing as you're the one who pinned me against the wall” you reply.

Oscar inched closer to you, and then his lips were on yours and he kissed them hungrily, with a longing. Your hands found their way to his hair and you pulled him closer, melting into the kiss. The two of you stayed in intense lips for a few minutes till you had to pull away breathless.

“Why did you leave that day?” Oscar asks, panting.

“Because- because I was embarrassed” you tell him.

He raises an eyebrow, “Of what? Of kissing me? Was it that bad? Sure didn’t seem like it now”.

“No no, I just thought that, it was your meds that made you like that kiss, not actual feelings and you don’t even like me-” you say, but he cuts you off with words of his own.

“Don’t like you? YN I’ve been in love with you since the first day I saw you in F2, I just didn’t want to make it obvious..”

“So you’re telling me that all this time you pretended to hate me?”

“Yeah..” he replies.

“Estúpido” you mumble and pull him for another quick kiss. “So are you gonna ask me out now?”

He smiles, “YN Sainz, will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?”.

You chuckle and nod your head, “It would be my pleasure”

oscar tries to shrug it off, offering a half-hearted smile. “nothing, just a little sore from training.”

you narrow your eyes, not convinced. “you sure? you don’t look fine.”

he chuckles, leaning in to kiss your forehead. “i’m okay, really. maybe i pulled something, but it’s nothing serious.”

you let it go for now, but the nagging feeling in your gut doesn’t disappear. he’s been home for a few days between races, and you’ve noticed he’s been moving a bit more carefully than usual. you figure he’s just being cautious—he’s got a big race in hungary coming up and doesn’t want to risk anything.

a couple of days later, you’re in the kitchen making breakfast when you hear a crash. rushing to the living room, you find oscar on the floor, holding his side and gritting his teeth.

“oscar!” you exclaim, dropping to your knees beside him. “what happened?”

he tries to laugh, but it comes out more like a groan. “tripped over my own feet… and then, well, the coffee table.”

your heart races as you help him up, his face pale with pain. “we’re going to the hospital.”

he starts to protest, but one look at your determined expression and he knows better than to argue. “okay, okay. but it’s probably just a bruise.”

you drive him to the hospital, anxiety bubbling in your chest. oscar tries to lighten the mood, cracking jokes and insisting that he’s fine, but you can see the discomfort etched on his face.

in the examination room, the doctor checks him over, sending him for an x-ray. you sit beside him, holding his hand, trying to mask your worry with a smile.

when the doctor returns, he frowns at the x-ray images. “well, there’s nothing obvious here, but given your symptoms, i’d like to do an ultrasound to be sure.”

oscar nods, though you can see a flicker of concern in his eyes. you squeeze his hand tighter.

a little while later, the ultrasound reveals what the x-ray didn’t—he’s got a small, hairline fracture in one of his ribs. the doctor explains it’s not too serious but could cause pain, especially with the physical demands of racing.

you feel a wave of relief mixed with fresh worry. “so what now? should he be resting? can he still race?” your questions tumble out faster than you can control them.

oscar gives you a reassuring smile, despite the obvious discomfort. “it’s just a small fracture. i’ll take it easy.”

the doctor advises some rest and pain management but doesn’t explicitly forbid racing. oscar seems almost relieved, but you’re still not convinced. “oscar, i don’t know… this sounds serious.”

“hey,” he says softly, turning to face you fully. “i’ll be careful. if it gets worse, i’ll pull out, okay? but right now, i’m feeling alright. it’s just a bit of pain.”

you know how stubborn he can be, and how much racing means to him. you want to make him stay home, keep him safe, but you also know he wouldn’t be happy with that.

over the next few days, you fuss over him—probably more than necessary, but you can’t help it. you make sure he’s comfortable, keep an eye on him whenever he moves, and remind him to take his pain meds. oscar endures it with a smile, teasing you gently about being so worried.

“you’re gonna wrap me in bubble wrap next,” he jokes one morning as you hand him a glass of water with his painkillers.

“don’t tempt me,” you reply, only half-joking. but you know you can’t keep him from going to hungary. it’s what he loves, and you can see the determination in his eyes.

the day before he’s supposed to leave, you sit together in bed, your head resting on his shoulder. “just promise me you’ll be careful.”

he kisses the top of your head, his voice soft. “i promise. and if it gets too much, i’ll stop. but i’ve got this, love. don’t worry too much.”

you nod, trying to believe it, but the worry still lingers in your chest. you just want him to be okay.

the next morning, you drive him to the airport, your hand gripping his a little tighter than usual. “text me as soon as you land, and call me if you need anything.”

oscar smiles, leaning in for a kiss. “i will. and i’ll be back before you know it.”

the shock. the disbelief. the dismay for some. oscar piastri married?! today the world is shocked to find out that one of the grid’s most charming drivers has been secretly married for years! that’s right, married. the news was bought to us after a screenshot was leaked on twitter from yn (his wife)‘s private instagram where she was seen posting him with the caption “getting to see the hubby live at work🥰”. the woman identified as yn ln, still goes by her maiden name was a girl he met while at boarding school.
